The police in Phong Phu commune (Tan Lac district) inspected accommodation and tourism businesses in the area to ensure security and safety for tourists visiting and staying there.
Similar to Chieng Chau, the two Mong ethnic minority communes of Hang Kia and Pa Co (Mai Chau) were previously areas with many complex problems related to crime and social vices, especially drug-related crimes and vices. Since the police force has done a good job in combating and resolving issues related to crime and drug-related vices, ensuring security and safety for tourists, this area has gradually become a destination on the tourism map of Mai Chau in particular and the province in general.
According to assessments, since the implementation of Directive No. 49-CT/TU, dated December 27, 2023, of the Provincial Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership in management and promoting tourism development in the province, the Provincial Police have thoroughly understood and seriously implemented the directive; directing professional departments to proactively, flexibly, and creatively perform their duties in ensuring tourism security.
The police force has effectively played its advisory role to Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially in localities with tourist areas, routes, and destinations that frequently attract foreign tourists, promoting the "All People Protect National Security" movement. Simultaneously, they have propagated and mobilized the people to actively promote local tourism, while raising awareness of crimes that exploit tourism activities to spread distorted narratives and illegal religious proselytizations, ensuring security and order and safety for tourists; and promptly monitoring the activities of tourists, accommodation establishments, and tourism services in key tourist areas, routes, and destinations that frequently attract large numbers of visitors.
Through intelligence gathering, functional units of the Provincial Police promptly detected and handled a suspected case of exploiting tourism activities to collect state secrets from foreigners in the area; discovered and apprehended 20 individuals red-handed for exploiting tourism activities to organize and participate in gambling in the Hoa Binh reservoir area in Thung Nai commune (Cao Phong); and quickly investigated and solved a case of theft of property from foreign tourists at Hill Top Valley golf course (Hoa Binh City).
According to statistics, the province currently has 9 tourist destinations and 1 tourist area recognized as a provincial tourist area/destination; approximately 500 accommodation establishments have been ranked and recognized (1 four-star hotel, 10 three-star hotels, 23 resorts and two-star hotels, 8 one-star hotels, and the rest are guesthouses and community-based homestays). Within the province, there are 4 international travel companies, 18 domestic travel companies with branch offices, 2 golf courses, and 1 paragliding site that have been licensed by the Provincial People's Committee.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Bui Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, with the scale and speed of tourism development in the province increasing rapidly, the Provincial Police Directorate has directed functional units and local police forces in tourist areas and attractions to strengthen management and inspection at businesses, accommodation establishments, and businesses operating under conditional licenses in the tourism sector... to prevent harassment, coercion, and fraud against tourists visiting the province, especially international tourists. In addition, functional units of the Provincial Police proactively coordinate with local authorities to conduct regular and surprise inspections to promptly detect shortcomings and limitations of organizations and individuals in order to take corrective measures.
Through effective advisory and state management work on security and order related to ensuring tourism safety, the police force has recently coordinated with relevant agencies to inspect over 100 businesses operating under specific conditions in the tourism sector; conducted periodic inspections of over 650 accommodation and tourism businesses regarding fire safety, issuing reports recommending the implementation of 732 requirements and addressing 25 shortcomings in fire safety; and inspected and issued reports on 115 violations related to passenger transport, including not wearing life jackets and vehicles lacking lifebuoys while transporting tourists on the waterways of Hoa Binh Lake...
The achievements have positively contributed to creating a safe and friendly environment to attract tourists and promote tourism to friends both domestically and internationally.
