The EC spokesperson stressed that he could not guarantee the exact timing of Brussels' potential response. However, he said that such responses would be timely, strong, well-considered, and achieve the intended impact.
Also on March 27, EU diplomats confirmed that the 27-member bloc had attempted to initiate negotiations to prevent additional tariffs.
However, Washington has stated that no negotiations will take place until the world's largest economy imposes additional tariffs.
Some unnamed EU officials said the bloc's retaliatory tariffs could be as high as 25%, but the exact figure has not yet been determined.
Currently, the US is seeking to boost domestic production in five sectors, including automobiles, pharmaceuticals, timber, semiconductors, and metals.
