Support for compatriots in distress

From the warm and sunny Southern land, Ho Chi Minh City once again opens its arms, sending love and giving strength to flood victims to firmly overcome difficulties.

In September, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector implemented a meaningful plan. On the occasion of the new school year opening, instead of sending congratulatory flower baskets, delegates, parents and students contributed money to support people in the storm-hit areas.

After just a few days, the movement spread widely, raising more than 17 billion VND. Of which, 14 billion VND was sent directly by the education sector to localities that suffered heavy damage, and 3 billion VND was transferred to the city's relief fund. Behind those numbers are the feelings of tens of thousands of teachers and students, who chose to turn the joy of the first day of school into a gift to share with their fellow countrymen.

The HCMC artist community also quickly joined in with a heart of sharing. On October 2, singer Ha Anh Tuan and the program "Sketch a Rose" in Los Angeles (USA) contributed 50,000 USD (more than 1.3 billion VND) to support people to overcome the damage caused by the storm. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union received the above amount to send to people in the storm and flood areas.

He shared: “Those who have the strength, contribute their strength, those who have money, contribute their money, to together become a support for those in difficulty. I just hope to contribute a small part, to ease some of the losses in the damaged provinces”. Singer Ha Anh Tuan's simple sharing touched the common feelings of many people. Many other artists also actively joined hands to contribute to support our compatriots with an amount of up to billions of VND.

From the artist community to the business community and the people, the bridge of love is still being extended. Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of Minh Tuan Mobile system, went to the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper's editorial office to directly send 100 million VND to support people in flood-hit areas. At the Asia Italian Door Industry Company Limited (Tan Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), union chairwoman Le Thi Huong said that the company has planned to donate in order of priority to directly go to localities that suffered heavy human losses.

On the morning of October 2, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, together with the delegation of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the delegation of Quang Tri province directly presented money to support the people of Nghe An province to overcome the consequences of storm No.

Turn every major event into an occasion for sharing

Many agencies and units mobilized their staff to contribute one day's salary to share with people in flood-affected areas. Political agencies and organizations in Ho Chi Minh City also chose to turn every important event into an opportunity to share.

At the first meeting of the Thuan Giao Ward Party Executive Committee (term 2025-2030), delegates donated more than 35 million VND to people affected by natural disasters. At the first Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee, after only 5 minutes of calling, more than 300 delegates donated nearly 400 million VND via QR code. The seemingly dry numbers are the clearest measure of the spirit of "helping each other" that has been deeply ingrained in the city's people's lifestyle... Many individuals who are retired cadres and war veterans have quietly transferred 500,000 VND, 1 million VND, with the message: "Contributing a little bit of heart to hope that people will soon stabilize their lives". Those amounts of money will quickly reach the flooded areas, helping people rebuild their roofs, reopen classrooms, and restore their fields.

Since the beginning of August 2025, through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the amount of relief money that collectives, individuals, businesses, schools, artists, and people of the city have sent to the Central and Northern regions has exceeded 40 billion VND.

In the memory of many people, Ho Chi Minh City is not only a bustling economic center, but also a land of love. Whenever somewhere in the S-shaped strip of land encounters a disaster, from here, sharing movements are launched, without distinction of locality, without calculation of gains and losses. Like a sweet flow from the South, love continues to flow, warming the hearts of people amidst storms and floods.

Vietnam Fatherland Front calls for support for people who suffered losses

On the afternoon of October 2, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Standing Committee held a fundraising ceremony to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods. At the fundraising ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and delegates participated in donating at least one day's salary each to support people in overcoming the damage and stabilizing their lives.

On the same day, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a ceremony to launch a campaign to support people affected by storm No. 10. The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front earnestly called on the spirit of "sharing food and clothes", those who have money to contribute money, those who have merit to contribute merit, those who have little to contribute little, those who have much to contribute much.

At the launching ceremony, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front received more than 673 billion VND from agencies, units, organizations and individuals who supported and registered to support.
