The Song Son Temple has received attention for restoration and renovation, attracting tourists to visit and worship.
When visiting Quang Trung, tourists cannot miss the Nine Wells Temple (also known as Co Chin Temple) - one of the famous and sacred temples in Thanh Hoa province. According to documents archived at the Culture and Social Affairs Department of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee , the Nine Wells Temple is dedicated to Cuu Thien Huyen Nu, the ninth daughter of the Jade Emperor (commonly known as Co Chin in folklore). During the battle between Tien Quan Thanh and Ba Chua Lieu Hanh at Song Son, when in danger, Ba Chua Lieu Hanh transformed into a dragon and appeared at the nine sacred wells - where Cuu Thien Huyen Nu resided. There, she was protected by Cuu Thien Huyen Nu's magic, and together with the Bodhisattva Quan Am, she escaped from Tien Quan Thanh's trap. To express gratitude for her compassion, Ba Chua Lieu Hanh decided to convert to Buddhism and become sworn sisters with Cuu Thien Huyen Nu. To commemorate and honor this protective deity, the local people erected a temple to Co Chin right next to the nine sacred wells. Therefore, every year, on the 26th day of the 2nd lunar month, within the framework of the Song Son - Ba Doi Festival, the palanquin of the Holy Mother will be carried from Song Son Temple to Chin Gieng Temple. On the 9th day of the 9th lunar month (the anniversary of the death of Cuu Thien Huyen Nu), the people of Quang Trung ward solemnly organize the offering of incense and gifts to commemorate Cuu Thien Huyen Nu.
Over the years, thanks to the attention of the State, the people, and philanthropists, the Nine Wells Temple has been renovated and restored to a magnificent state while still preserving its traditional architecture. Currently, the Nine Wells Temple consists of three sections: the outer section, the middle section, and the inner section. From the triple-arched gate, ascending the high stone steps, visitors will enter the outer section. This is a seven-bay building lavishly decorated with ceremonial gates and gilded wooden archways. The central bay houses the communal altar, the left bay the altar of the Council of Holy Emperors, and the right bay the altar of the Council of Holy Maidens. With its renowned sacredness, the Nine Wells Temple always attracts a large number of people and tourists from all over to visit, admire the scenery, and pray for blessings and peace. According to statistics from the Quang Trung Ward Public Service Center, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the site has attracted nearly 200,000 visitors.
Currently, Quang Trung ward has 8 classified historical and cultural relics, including 3 national-level relics and 5 provincial-level relics. From 2021 to the present, with the attention of the State and philanthropists, many relics such as Tu Thuc Temple, Song Son Temple, and Chin Gieng Temple... have been restored and repaired, meeting the spiritual needs of the people. To further promote the value of these relics, the People's Committee of Quang Trung ward has submitted a report proposing a list of relics to be preserved, restored, and promoted in the ward for the period 2026-2030, requesting the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit it to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province for continued financial support to restore and renovate these relics in the ward.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hue, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee, said: Identifying the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values as an important task, Quang Trung Ward will continue to strengthen state management of historical sites; mobilize resources for restoration and renovation; promote the implementation of civilized lifestyles at historical sites; and effectively organize traditional festivals. This will contribute to preserving unique cultural values, educating the younger generation about historical traditions, and creating a strong attraction for tourists, promoting the development of cultural and spiritual tourism in the area.
