From being quite hesitant to participate in local activities, Ms. Dang Thi Thu Hong (residing in Rach Chanh neighborhood, Khanh Hau ward, Tay Ninh province) has now become a "pillar of support" for many poor and near-poor households and people with difficult circumstances in the area.
Having been involved in local activities since 2008, Ms. Hong served as the Head of Rach Chanh Hamlet and the Head of the Women's Association in Loi Binh Nhon Commune (now the Head of Rach Chanh Neighborhood and the Head of the Women's Association in Rach Chanh Neighborhood, Khanh Hau Ward). Regardless of the role, she always found motivation in achieving results and finding joy in her work.
Ms. Dang Thi Thu Hong (right in the photo) is affectionately known by the locals as "Aunt Ut".
Ms. Hong believes that learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example doesn't necessarily require grand actions; it can be small but meaningful deeds for the community. Over the past time, she has not only performed her assigned duties well but has also set a leading example in charitable activities. Recognizing many cases of housing difficulties, she mobilized and connected philanthropists to support the construction and repair of houses. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, she has mobilized resources to build 4 houses and repair 1 house with a total cost of 520 million VND.
Not only does she help the poor and disadvantaged people "settle down and make a living," this 55-year-old woman's journey of love is extended through many meaningful activities such as giving gifts to disadvantaged students before the new school year; visiting and giving gifts to support vulnerable children, women, and people in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year and the 15th day of the 7th lunar month; maintaining the operation of the charitable kitchen from the time of the Covid-19 pandemic until now; raising funds to support people with serious illnesses; donating health insurance cards;…
"Having undertaken many responsibilities, I've come into contact with many different situations through neighborhood meetings, branch meetings, and field trips. From there, I understand the thoughts and difficulties of the people so I can provide appropriate assistance. I'm fortunate to have many philanthropists, friends, and relatives who have supported me financially in carrying out my charitable activities," Ms. Hong shared.
For a long time, the locals have been familiar with the image of middle-aged women with tanned skin, riding their motorbikes and participating in most charitable activities in the area. Thanks to this timely support, many have been able to improve their lives. To date, the neighborhood has only 2 poor households and 11 near-poor households.
Ms. Luong Ngoc Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hau Ward and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Khanh Hau Ward, said: "Ms. Hong is very energetic, unafraid of difficulties, and always sets a good example in doing well in the work of the Women's Union and the women's movement, as well as social welfare activities. She is also a 'bridge' connecting the hearts of many philanthropists to those in difficult circumstances in the neighborhood. Her actions have spread strongly, attracting members and women to participate."
With many meaningful activities over the years, Ms. Hong has received numerous commendations and certificates of merit from the provincial to the local level. Among them, she was praised for her dedication to studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's example and was awarded the "For the Cause of Promoting Education" commemorative medal.
