On the evening of February 28th, the Da Nang City People's Court concluded the first-instance trial of the case involving a female director who defrauded people by selling land belonging to others without proper documentation.
The court sentenced Huynh Thi Bon (44 years old, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) to 16 years in prison for fraud and appropriation of property.
According to the indictment, Bon established Huynh Ngoc Lieu Real Estate Company Limited, engaging in real estate transactions in Lien Chieu District, and through this, became acquainted with a client, Ms. HBN (64 years old, residing on 3 Thang 2 Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City).
Huynh Thi Bon receives a 16-year prison sentence.
In 2021, Four, a real estate businessman, suffered losses and went bankrupt, leading him to devise a plan to defraud Ms. N. in order to pay off his debts and for personal expenses.
Bốn's scheme involved claiming to own numerous plots of land in the Hòa Hiệp and Hòa Liên wards, offering them at prices lower than the market value to deceive many people.
Through this, Bon committed 16 fraudulent acts, appropriating nearly 10 billion VND in land purchase deposits from the victims.
Of these victims, Ms. N. was defrauded the most, losing 8.15 billion VND, while other victims were scammed out of amounts ranging from 160 million to 700 million VND.
In these transactions, Bon asked his girlfriend, D.D.H (53 years old, residing in Lien Chieu District), 12 times to write receipts and sign as witnesses.
However, the investigation determined that H., a taxi driver, wrote the document at Bon's request, was unaware of Bon's fraudulent activities in the land transaction, did not benefit from testifying, and showed no signs of complicity, so the police did not prosecute him.
According to the panel of judges, in this case, Huynh Thi Bon committed the crime in a professional manner and repeatedly, therefore she is subject to aggravating circumstances that increase her criminal liability.
During the investigation and in court, Huynh Thi Bon confessed to all her criminal acts.
In addition to the 16-year prison sentence for fraud and misappropriation of property, Bon was also ordered to continue compensating the victims for the remaining amount.
