Volunteering for the community
Ms. Trang was born and raised in the coastal city of Nha Trang. After graduating with a degree in English from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, she decided to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to pursue her career. She became a visiting lecturer in English at several universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Whenever she visited relatives in Nha Trang, she saw the "Khanh Hoa People Speak English" program being advertised on the streets and decided to learn more about it. In 2024, due to family circumstances, she temporarily suspended her work in Ho Chi Minh City and returned to Nha Trang to care for her mother. Finding the program appealing, she volunteered and taught at various clubs.

Ms. Trang shared: “When I first came to the class, I was quite surprised to see so many older women studying. But everyone was very enthusiastic during the lessons, which motivated me to keep thinking and finding better ways to teach. As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to share a lot of English knowledge and create joy for the students through the lessons. This was also a chance for me to contribute to my hometown. Initially, I just thought of it as fun, to ease my longing for teaching, but the more I taught, the more I realized how much I learned from the students.”

Despite being busy caring for her sick mother and with her work, Ms. Trang still dedicates time to teaching English at various clubs. Currently, she volunteers at five clubs: Tan Tien Women's English Club; Cho Dam English Club; Thanh Tam Boarding House English Club; Nha Trang Center and Diamond Bay English Club; and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism English Club. Every day (except Wednesdays), she teaches at one club. Each club meets once a week for 1.5 hours per session. The students at the clubs she teaches are of various ages. Therefore, to ensure students understand and grasp the lessons, Ms. Trang prepares lessons tailored to each age group based on the prescribed curriculum. In each class, she helps students review vocabulary, learn new words, practice pronunciation, correct their reading, explain meanings, and illustrate with vivid images. The classroom atmosphere is always cheerful, making learning English easy and comfortable. Ms. Ngo Thi Loan, a member of the Tan Tien Women's English Club, shared: "Ms. Trang is very enthusiastic, her lectures are easy to understand, and her learning methods are easy to remember, so I absorb the lessons better."

Dedication and responsibility in every lecture.
Every day, Ms. Trang spends three hours designing lessons using PowerPoint, finding illustrations, and creating lessons suitable for each student. She researches and experiments to create a different game each day, fostering a fun atmosphere and helping students review vocabulary, sentences, and dialogues. For older students, she slows down the pace of the lessons to help them remember and keep up. She also designs her own homework assignments based on available websites for students to review, complete exercises, and earn reward points.
In every class, Ms. Trang enthusiastically teaches and shares her English knowledge with her students. |
Ms. Trang also designed many fun games for students to participate in to practice vocabulary, sentences, dialogues, etc. |
“Many of my students are older but they study very seriously and enthusiastically participate in games to remember what they have learned. That motivates me to strive every day to share my English knowledge with everyone. When I see students participating in competitions and winning awards, confidently going abroad, I am very happy because that trip will help people gain a new perspective on the world and change their lifestyles for the better, improving their health. Through them, I want young people to understand that learning is fun,” Ms. Trang confided.
The lessons taught by Ms. Trang are always lively with many interactive activities, creating an exciting atmosphere for the learners. |
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoan, Project Manager of the Khanh Hoa People Speaking English Project, stated that Ms. Trang is a passionate and dedicated volunteer of the program. Not only is she a highly qualified instructor, but she also makes a strong impression with her confident, flexible, and engaging teaching style. This has helped people approach English naturally, easily, and with inspiration. With her dedication, responsibility, and community-oriented spirit, Ms. Trang, along with other volunteers, has contributed to the project's achievements.
