Two containers of Black Cat soy sauce, one of the oldest Vietnamese brands, have just been officially exported and sold in 37 states in the US.
Mr. Ho Diep Anh Khoi, CEO of Nam Duong International Food Co., Ltd., said that after receiving inspection and approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company was allowed to export officially. Vietnamese branded products include soy sauce, chili sauce and garlic sauce.
Products are sold in 37 states of the US. Of which, 80% are in Vietnamese supermarket channels, 20% are in Korean, Taiwanese, and Thai markets. The company will also seek to penetrate US supermarket channels such as Walmart or Amazon.
According to Ms. Vu Kim Hanh, President of the High Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association, many Vietnamese spice products are exported to the US but the labels do not carry Vietnamese brands or are small, retail hand-carried goods. Nam Duong soy sauce being officially exported to this market is an optimistic signal for the Vietnamese spice group in this market.
The size of the world spice market is about 56,67 billion USD. In the US, there are 1,3 million Vietnamese people, so according to Ms. Hanh, the market is still quite potential. In addition to the Vietnamese customer group, world consumer trends are favoring groups of plant origin. If we focus on quality and produce according to tastes, she believes that Vietnamese spices will increase their position.
Forecasting that by 2025, Vietnamese spice export turnover to the world could reach 1,8 billion USD.
Nam Duong soy sauce, also known as Con Meo Den, was born in 1951 in Saigon. The factory is located at Binh Dong wharf. In addition to the US, the product will be officially exported to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
