One of the typical and meaningful activities is the extracurricular program "Total Victory Day" organized by Chu Van An Secondary School (Cam Pha City) on the morning of April 18, 2025. This is a key activity in the traditional education plan, aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), and at the same time, it is an opportunity for teachers and students of the whole school to review the heroic history of the nation, to pay tribute to the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for independence and freedom.
The program was organized solemnly and lively with the participation of all students, teachers and guests. The opening was a welcome performance by the students themselves, with heroic revolutionary songs, evoking national pride in each person. The main content of the program included two competitions: "Understanding history" and "Stage talent". Four teams representing four grades brought impressive performances, reflecting historical themes: From the image of farmers holding guns in "The country stands up", to the production spirit in the rear in "The North increases production"; from the arduous journey across Truong Son in "The road to the front" to the sacred moment of victory in "Victory of resistance - North and South reunion". The performances were elaborately staged, full of emotion, helping students transform into historical figures, reliving each golden page of the nation's history through the lens of school age.
The exciting atmosphere also spread through the audience competition, when the students raised their hands, clearly expressing their enthusiasm for studying history. Through extracurricular activities, the school has not only created a useful and attractive playground, but also effectively conveyed traditional values to the students. "Toan Thang Festival" is not only a commemorative activity, but has truly become an emotional educational journey, fostering gratitude and arousing the desire to continue the glorious tradition in each student.
Teacher Tran Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Youth Union of Chu Van An Secondary School, shared: “We hope that through extracurricular activities like this, students will not only understand more about the history of the nation, but also feel the sacrifices and losses to achieve independence and freedom today. Each performance, each competition is a way for students to learn how to love the Fatherland in their own way - with pride, gratitude and the desire to contribute. What is valuable is that students not only participate enthusiastically, but also really immerse themselves in and live with each historical story they express. That is a sign that love for the homeland and country has been and is being nurtured in today's young generation in a natural and sustainable way.”
Joining the exciting competitive atmosphere of the youth of the whole country towards the great national festival, many schools in the province have organized meaningful and practical activities, spreading patriotism, national pride and civic responsibility among students.
Ngo Quyen High School (Ha Long City) organized the National Defense - Security Education Sports Festival, becoming a highlight in the series of activities towards the anniversary. Through competitions in military skills, physical strength, simulated tactics... the sports festival contributed to training the will, courage, discipline and patriotism of the students. This is not only an opportunity for them to demonstrate their physical and cognitive maturity, but also arouses the spirit of readiness to protect the Fatherland in the new situation.
Also with the goal of educating tradition through practical experience, Le Van Tam Secondary School (Ha Long City) organized the program "A day as a soldier" at Regiment 213 (Ha Trung Ward, Ha Long City). With the theme "Following the footsteps of heroes", students were transformed into soldiers participating in challenges such as deciphering secret letters, overcoming obstacles, transporting military supplies, pulling artillery to destroy the enemy... The vivid and attractive simulation activities helped students understand more about the life of a soldier, thereby appreciating the great sacrifices of previous generations.
Meanwhile, Van Lang Primary, Secondary and High School have chosen to conduct experiential learning at the “red addresses” of Ha Long city. At the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs and the Monument to Comrade Vu Van Hieu, students participated in the solemn incense and flower offering ceremony; and talked with veterans. In particular, the visit to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thuc, whose two children are martyrs, left in the students’ hearts deep impressions of sacrifice, loss and the very ordinary yet sacred things of a time of war.
There are many ways to do this in many different forms, but all schools have the same goal of instilling patriotism, responsibility and noble ideals in today's generation of students. Extracurricular lessons, trips to red addresses or sports competitions to practice bravery... are all ways for students to better understand history and the sacrifices made to achieve today's peace. Through that, love for the homeland, gratitude and sense of responsibility for the country also grow in them naturally and sustainably.
