OpenAI engineer Rapha Gontijo Lopes shared that the model's EQ is assessed through emotion, specifically the level of cooperation and warmth in tone. To measure this, OpenAI had experts evaluate and select the most appropriate responses.
Furthermore, GPT-4.5 has also been improved to minimize 'hallucinations,' that is, the confident delivery of false information. This is a common problem in previous AI models and a concern for users.
In terms of performance, GPT-4.5 is highly rated for its ability to handle general knowledge. However, OpenAI also notes that this model is not as specialized in programming and solving complex problems as some other AI models.
GPT-4.5 is currently being rolled out as a research preview for ChatGPT Pro users (at a rather high cost of up to $200/month). ChatGPT Plus and Team users will be able to access this model next week. OpenAI hopes to receive feedback from users to continue improving the model.
