Mid-Autumn Festival comes to children in difficult areas
Cong Hai commune was established on the basis of merging two communes, Cong Hai and Phuoc Chien, with a population of over 14,700, including the majority of Raglai ethnic minorities. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, children here are cared for and given gifts by the organizing units. At Suoi Gieng Primary School, Cong Hai commune, the children have their hair cut by the provincial police and the Khanh Hoa Provincial Cultural Center, participate in sports exchanges, receive scholarships and interact with Uncle Cuoi and Sister Hang; play games to receive gifts; watch lion dances; break the feast and carry lanterns.
Delighted to hold the heartfelt gift from the provincial police youths, Mau Quoc Huy, class 5B, Suoi Gieng Primary School, shared that this was a complete Mid-Autumn Festival and he always reminded himself to study well, to be worthy of being a good child, a good student, a good grandchild of Uncle Ho; to grow up to be a useful citizen for society, to build a rich and beautiful homeland.
In the Tay Khanh Son mountainous area, the Tay Khanh Son Commune Youth Union coordinated with other units to organize activities for the commune's children with the theme "Lighting up dreams with you". Here, the children were very happy to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival because they made moon lanterns with their own hands. They participated in scientific exploration experiences with the game of making a zipline (sliding cable) "Sister Hang descending to earth"; drawing pictures with "hand flowers"; watching lion dances, taking part in quizzes with questions about the Mid-Autumn Festival and breaking the cake to receive Mid-Autumn gifts.
The representative of the organizing unit said that, bringing the Mid-Autumn Festival to children in difficult highland areas, the unit always aims to preserve for them the traditional beauty of the nation. Letting the children make star lanterns by themselves, experiencing science with lanterns are very meaningful things. More importantly, through the activity of drawing pictures with "hand flowers", it will help to strengthen the affection of children in the highland areas, helping them have many childhood memories, especially on the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Mid-Autumn Festival on a remote island
Although hundreds of nautical miles away from the mainland, the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere in Truong Sa special zone was very warm and filled with laughter. Children on Truong Sa, Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton and Da Tay islands were able to watch lion dances and performances by officers, soldiers, teachers and students. They also heard the President's Mid-Autumn Festival greetings, replete with the emotions of a moonlit night.
During the “Full Moon Festival”, the children of Brigade 146 officers also received gifts from the Brigade commander and the Truong Sa special zone government. The gifts were simple but imbued with the love of the mainland, conveying the love and encouragement for the children to continue to study well, practice being good, and worthy of being Uncle Ho’s good children.
Le Thi Kim Ngoc, Truong Sa Primary School, Khanh Hoa Province said: "Welcoming the Mid-Autumn Festival on the island, my friends and I are very happy. Although there are not as many bright lanterns on the island as on the mainland, there is the warm affection of family and soldiers. I really appreciate the warm moments of reunion with my family on this day."
Together with other organizations, Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union has recently assigned its grassroots organizations to pay attention to and organize activities for children in the province from the mainland to remote islands, from remote areas to rural and urban areas. In each region, depending on the characteristics, there are specific activities to help children celebrate Tet happily and warmly.
Ms. Huynh Thi Nhu Y, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairwoman of the Provincial Youth Union Council, Director of the Provincial Children's House, said that each gift, each program and activity of the Youth Union units for the province's children during the Mid-Autumn Festival has contributed to bringing joy and adding motivation for the children to be good and study well, especially those students with difficult circumstances. The gifts are small but contain the affection, care and sharing of the community, helping the children have a beautiful full moon season.
Mid-Autumn Festival in Truong Sa is not only a joy for children but also a bond of military-civilian affection, further lighting up the spirit of solidarity, creating motivation for children to grow up in the sea and sky of the Fatherland with pride and aspirations to reach far.
