The voting program was organized with the participation of representatives from prestigious organizations such as HSBC Vietnam, PwC Vietnam, Schneider Electric, Circular Economy Research and Development Institute, Talentnet, VinaCapital... Evaluation criteria are based on key factors including: sustainable development strategy, governance efficiency, environmental-social impact and the ability to create long-term value for stakeholders.

The continuous recognition over the years not only reflects the results from Masan 's specific efforts, but also demonstrates the sustainable development approach that has been integrated into the Group's core strategy, true to the philosophy of "Doing well by doing good".
Sustainable development is a strategic choice
Masan Group Corporation is one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam, focusing on the consumer-retail sector. With the philosophy of "doing well by doing good", Masan aims to provide quality essential products and services, serving the increasingly diverse needs of more than 100 million consumers in Vietnam and internationally. Masan's ecosystem includes member companies and brands operating in many areas with growth potential such as: Masan Consumer FMCG (Chin-Su, Nam Ngu, Omachi, Wake-Up 247); Branded meat - Masan MEATLife (MEATDeli, Ponnie, Heo Cao Boi); Retail chains - WinCommerce (WinMart, WinMart+, WiN); Phuc Long Heritage tea and coffee chain (Phuc Long); Masan High-Tech Materials (high-tech industrial materials).

On its growth journey, Masan aims to integrate sustainable development into its business strategy to ensure harmony between financial goals and environmental and social factors. This approach is demonstrated through specific activities related to product innovation, supply chain management, compliance with safety standards, transparency and implementing community programs with long-term impact.

According to the annual report, the company has been applying a sustainable development framework based on three main pillars: Promoting innovation and sustainable growth; Caring for the environment and community; Trusting employees and customers. This framework is built in accordance with international standards such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and IFC Performance Standards, aiming at effective operations with long-term environmental and social responsibility.

In 2024, some typical results reflecting Masan's efforts in implementing its sustainable development strategy include:

  • 100% of factories are certified to international food safety standards (FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP)
  • 25.26% renewable energy used at all manufacturing plants
  • Women account for 62% of total employees; Female management ratio reaches 43% at middle level and above
  • 2,555 training classes were organized or coordinated by Masan Growth Center across the Group, attracting 58,654 participants

In addition, in 2024, Masan allocated more than VND144 billion for community development initiatives, focusing on areas such as education , healthcare and nutrition. Masan Consumer alone has implemented 9 community programs, contributing to supporting disadvantaged groups and improving the quality of life in localities. These activities are part of the Group's sustainable development strategy, integrating social responsibility into business growth.

Practicing sustainable development throughout the ecosystem
In order to synchronize ESG activities across the ecosystem, in 2023, Masan established a Group-level ESG Committee, taking on the role of coordinating and supervising the implementation of initiatives at each member company. Integrating ESG into operations, governance and investment is considered an important foundation in the long-term development strategy.

At Masan Consumer, the company prioritizes product innovation for consumer health and optimizes manufacturing operations to minimize environmental impact. In 2024, approximately 65% of total energy consumption will come from renewable sources, greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 & 2) will decrease by 18% year-on-year, and more than 80% of waste will be diverted from landfills, of which 46% will be recycled. In addition, in 2024, the company will implement 9 community programs, contributing more than VND 25 billion, focusing on education, healthcare, and nutrition.

In the branded meat segment, Masan MEATLife promotes the development of high-tech farms towards ecological operation and energy saving. Specifically, the pig farm system in Nghe An (Farm S1 and S2) applies biogas treatment technology from livestock waste. In 2024, an estimated 3.67 million m³ of biogas (methane) will be generated through anaerobic digestion, serving on-site electricity production. This initiative not only minimizes environmental impact but also contributes to creating a renewable energy source to help reduce operating costs.

In the retail industry, WinCommerce promotes point-of-sale communications to raise awareness of sustainable consumption. The company encourages customers to use biodegradable and reusable bags, contributing to reducing plastic waste and forming environmentally friendly consumption habits.

On the side of Masan High-Tech Materials, the unit continues to combine mineral exploitation operations with ecological restoration programs. A typical initiative is the cooperation project with the UFU Institute (Germany) in the experimental planting of energy crops in the post-exploitation area. Research shows that Acacia Hybrid can absorb about 172 tons of CO₂ per hectare after 6 years - a premise for a sustainable greening model.

Sustainable development at Masan is not a separate activity, but an integrated part of the long-term growth orientation. From products to supply chains, from operations to people, the Group is gradually realizing the philosophy of “Doing well by doing good” through specific actions, clear data and consistent commitment. This is the foundation for Masan to strengthen the trust of consumers, partners and investors, while creating momentum for growth in the context of a business environment that increasingly places emphasis on responsible and sustainable development.
