Ms. Le Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai City, delivered a speech at the workshop.

According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai City, cashew trees are one of the perennial industrial crops that play an important role in the agricultural economic development of Dong Nai City, contributing to job creation, increased income, and stable livelihoods for people in many localities. After the administrative reorganization, the new Dong Nai City has become a locality with over 176,000 hectares of cashew plantations and a production of more than 186,000 tons, accounting for about 58% of the country's cashew area. This is an important advantage for the comprehensive development of the cashew industry value chain from production and processing to consumption and export.

However, experts, managers, and businesses believe that the cashew industry is currently facing many difficulties, especially due to the impact of the global economic and geopolitical situation. Recently, conflicts in the Middle East have increased logistics costs, sea freight costs, and international delivery times.

Reports indicate that many businesses exporting to the EU and the Middle East are experiencing delays of 2-4 weeks due to adjustments in international shipping routes caused by the conflict in the Middle East. This directly impacts key export sectors, including cashew nuts, as logistics costs currently account for a large proportion of export prices.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested an impact assessment on the proposed relocation of Hanoi Railway Station.Regarding the proposal from a large private enterprise to relocate the railway line from Hanoi Station to Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc assigned the Ministry of Construction to take the lead and coordinate with the Hanoi People's Committee and relevant ministries and agencies to consider this issue.

According to Vu Thai Son, Chairman of the Dong Nai City Cashew Association, major importing markets are increasingly tightening standards on traceability, sustainable development, carbon emissions, and social responsibility in the supply chain. This requires cashew businesses to boost investment in processing technology, brand building, and digital transformation to enhance competitiveness in the international market.

To sustainably develop cashew cultivation, from the perspective of a farmer, Mr. Nguyen Sy Song (a farmer in Phu Rieng commune, Dong Nai city), with over 35 years of experience in cashew farming and a yield of 3.5-4 tons/ha, believes that changing and rejuvenating cashew orchards with grafted varieties that have high yields, drought resistance, and pest and disease resistance is a key solution to improve the economic situation for farmers in the face of climate change challenges. In addition, the city needs to have reputable and high-quality suppliers of plant varieties to ensure farmers can confidently switch to new varieties.

From the perspective of a scientist and economic expert, Associate Professor Dr. Nhu Trong Bach, Deputy Director of the Academy of Policy and Development (Ministry of Finance), suggests that Dong Nai should build a cultural and economic space in the former Binh Phuoc province area; in which, the people, especially ethnic minorities, should be the main actors.

In the coming period, to promote trade, advertise, and build the image of cashew products in the digital environment, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with associations/businesses, the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion to support businesses in strongly applying cross-border e-commerce; promote trade in the digital environment; support businesses in participating in international e-commerce platforms, and strengthen connections with logistics systems, seaports, and distribution centers to reduce export costs.

According to Le Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai City, to sustainably develop the cashew industry, Dong Nai is reviewing and planning specialized cashew growing areas, promoting the replanting of old cashew orchards, encouraging the use of high-yield varieties, developing production areas that meet VietGAP and organic standards, and strengthening the issuance of planting area codes and product traceability.

The city is promoting value chain linkages, supporting connections between farmers, cooperatives, and businesses, developing specialized cashew cooperatives, and encouraging businesses to invest in raw material areas and product procurement. At the same time, it encourages investment in advanced processing technology, diversifies cashew products, builds and promotes the "Dong Nai Cashew" brand, and supports the development of OCOP (One Commune One Product) cashew products.
