Song Trem Tourist Area, Hamlet 17, Khanh Thuan Commune, is attracting tourists. Mr. Tran Hoang Khoi, Head of the Tourist Area Management Board, shared: "The province's investment in upgrading and expanding the road from Chu Y Bridge to the tourist area has created favorable conditions for more tourists to visit here." Since the beginning of the year, Song Trem Tourist Area has welcomed over 10,000 visitors.
With a forest area of over 110 hectares, the Management Board has allocated 12 hectares for tourism development. To meet the needs and tastes of tourists, Song Trem Tourist Area is forming systematic tours and routes, investing in raising giraffes, ostriches and many other wild animals. Grasping the needs of tourists, this tourist area has now created many new points, contributing to diversifying the colors of tourism under the forest canopy, such as investing in purple mua flower routes, trekking routes, cherry routes...
Walking route to experience under the canopy of a forest over 40 years old.
“In particular, to serve the sightseeing needs of tourists when they come here to experience, the unit has set up 2 routes through the forest, by ferry and by boat. For the route through the forest by ferry, tourists can have a meal on the ferry, then enjoy traditional music in the peaceful atmosphere. As for the route through the forest by boat, a few months ago it was not exploited because of the drought, the water in the canal was dry; now it is the rainy season, the water level in the canal is guaranteed for travel and many groups of tourists have experienced this form, according to the records, tourists are very excited”, Mr. Khoi shared.
Tourists can visit and go through the forest by boat.
Ostriches raised in Song Trem Tourist Area are well adapted to the climate and soil of U Minh Ha.
Coming to Song Trem Tourist Area, visitors are fascinated by the beauty of the forests that are still wild and intact. According to records, most of the visitors coming here for sightseeing and tourism are groups, more than individual visitors. The demand for organizing events has also increased recently, but the tourist area has not had a place to organize large events. To meet the needs of visitors, the Management Board is working with consultants to promote the construction of an event organization area and will start construction, and by the end of 2024 it can be put into use. This area can host parties, events, weddings, etc.
“Song Trem Tourist Area has the strength of a 40-year-old Melaleuca forest ecosystem, with diverse flora and fauna under its canopy, and is the province’s largest “zoo”. In the future, we will develop the tourist area as a place for entertainment, relaxation, and accommodation for tourists, and how can we retain tourists when they come here”, Mr. Khoi confided.
New tourism model
These days, Minh Duy vineyard, Hamlet 15, attracts many tourists to visit, becoming an ideal stopover for tourists inside and outside the province. Minh Duy vineyard is located just over 3 km from the center of U Minh town, the large road is convenient for tourists to come here to visit and travel.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, the owner of the vineyard, shared: “At first, I did not intend to do any tourism, just to utilize 30% of the forestry land to grow grapes, add fruit trees so that on the weekends, my children can come here to relax and enjoy the fresh air. But when the grapes bore fruit, people told me to open it for people to visit. Initially, it attracted a lot of visitors to come here to experience.”
Grapevines have taken root in U Minh Ha forest and become a sought-after object of tourists.
Previously, if you wanted to visit a vineyard, you had to go to Ninh Thuan. Now, on the saline, acidic land of Ca Mau , visitors can visit and pick fruit right in the garden. Minh Duy vineyard is the second vineyard successfully planted in Ca Mau, meeting the needs of visitors from inside and outside the province.
Currently, domestic tourism is the choice of many households. Ms. Diep Truc Linh, Hamlet 2, Khanh Tien Commune, shared: “This summer, my children want to travel, but the cost of train and bus tickets is too high for the family to afford. Therefore, I choose to take the children to visit tourist attractions in the province, which is convenient, not too expensive, and also helps the children understand more about their hometown Ca Mau”.
“Most of the tourists coming here are local people and other districts of Kien Giang province. Tourists can both visit and enjoy the clean fruit varieties on the spot. Because it is the first crop, it has not met the demand of customers. In the coming time, I plan to plant 100 more milk grape trees. Currently, the vineyard has 3 varieties: milk grapes, black summer grapes and ruby grapes. Each type produces different fruits, so if tourism is developed, in the coming time, I can proactively schedule the fruiting time of the trees to serve the needs of tourists,” Mr. Hieu shared.
Mr. Pham Quoc Thien, Vice Chairman of Khanh Thuan Commune People's Committee, excitedly said: "There are 3 eco-tourism spots in the commune. In recent years, tourism activities under the forest canopy have clearly developed, the number of tourists visiting is increasing. Infrastructure has been gradually developed, tourism services have been gradually improved, meeting the needs of tourists."
The road is invested and expanded, creating favorable conditions for tourists to visit and travel.
"Compared to other localities, the commune's eco-tourism has just begun and needs to be improved in the coming time to attract tourists. The local government will support households and create favorable conditions for businesses to invest in tourism development. At the same time, connect with tourist destinations in other localities to develop tours and routes to attract more tourists here," Mr. Thien added./.
