From May 28th to 30th, the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City will host the specialized conference "Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery - MICS Summit 2026".

Associate Professor, Doctor Ngo Quoc Dat, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, delivered a speech at the conference.
The conference brought together many domestic and international experts in the fields of cardiovascular surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery resuscitation, etc., from Greece, Germany, and Sweden.
In recent years, minimally invasive cardiac surgery has become a significant development in modern cardiovascular surgery. With small incisions and the assistance of endoscopy or robotics, this method reduces trauma, minimizes blood loss, reduces postoperative pain, and shortens recovery time for patients, while still ensuring effective treatment.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Associate Professor, Doctor Ngo Quoc Dat, Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, emphasized that as a teaching hospital directly under the university, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital possesses many leading specialties, with cardiovascular and thoracic surgery being a key area of investment and development over the past many years.
The routine implementation of minimally invasive cardiac surgical techniques not only contributes to affirming the hospital's professional capabilities but also creates an important foundation for training and developing highly specialized human resources in the field of cardiovascular surgery.

Professor, Doctor Nguyen Hoang Dinh, Deputy Director of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, performed the minimally invasive heart surgery.
According to Professor, Doctor Nguyen Hoang Dinh, Deputy Director of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest challenge of minimally invasive heart surgery lies not only in the surgical technique but also in the ability to coordinate multiple specialties throughout the treatment process.
Organizing in-depth conferences combining live case demonstrations and simulation training is a practical solution to bridge the experience gap, enabling young doctors to access new techniques safely, systematically, and in a standardized manner.
The highlights of the conference included live surgical demonstrations, professional debates, and technical simulation workshops. Through live case sessions, participants could directly observe the approach strategies, management procedures, and technical manipulations in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Meanwhile, the professional debates offered multi-faceted perspectives on complex clinical cases, and the simulation workshops provided young doctors with the opportunity to practice on models before applying their skills in clinical practice.
