According to Kamalani, new flight attendants have to get used to flights departing the night before and arriving early the next morning. They also have to get used to working on holidays, flying multiple short flights each day and possibly working 15-hour shifts.
People think flight attendants can fly the same routes over and over again, but in reality, seniority is the deciding factor. They have to work their way up to the top, from the cities they want to fly to, how much layover time they want, and what type of plane they want. Kamalani says flight attendants don’t really get to live the glamorous life until they have seniority.

According to Kamalani, the job of a flight attendant is not as simple as people think, it is not just serving food and drinks on the plane. During training, flight attendants have to learn many other skills such as how to evacuate passengers, deal with drunk passengers, put out fires, give first aid or terrorists...
