With the orientation of developing OCOP products not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of value depth, Hau Giang is gradually exploiting regional identity as a competitive advantage. The OCOP product introduction and sales points built in 2025 are one of the solutions to materialize this orientation.

OCOP subjects are meticulous in every stage of production, sending stories into each product.

The implementation of the OCOP Program in Hau Giang shows that most of the products are of good quality, bearing strong local characteristics such as Cau Duc pineapple, boneless snakehead fish, traditional wine, honey, handicrafts from water hyacinth, etc. However, many products have not yet made a strong impression on the market due to the lack of suitable display space, and have not fully conveyed the cultural values and stories behind each product.

Based on that reality, the Department of Industry and Trade of the province has developed a plan to deploy OCOP product introduction and sales points in the province in 2025. Not only aiming at trade promotion, OCOP product sales points are also oriented to become places to promote local cultural values through typical consumer products.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Ai, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hau Giang province, emphasized: “We do not just stop at supporting the subjects consuming the products, but also want the products to tell the story of the land that gave birth to them. OCOP points will be the space for products to show their true value, not only through packaging, but also through the origin, process and cultural spirit behind it.”

Specifically, at OCOP points, the products on display not only meet the regulations on food safety, packaging, and traceability, but are also introduced with attached content related to the place of production, traditional processing procedures, and the brand story of the subject. This is a solution to increase differentiation, helping the province's OCOP products have a "unique mark" in the market with many similar products from other localities.

Here, consumers not only come to buy products but can also learn about products through QR codes, transparent information about the production process, quality certification, or directly experience the products on the spot. The combination of modern elements and indigenous culture helps enhance the shopping experience, while increasing the connection between products and customers.

Ms. Huynh Thi Tu Ngoc, Owner of OCOP Thuan Phat Agricultural Products Store, shared: “Previously, we only sold retail in the area, or sold according to orders during holidays and Tet. When I was chosen as the official display location, I saw that this was not only a business opportunity, but also a way for my products to be recognized for their true value. Customers who come to buy can clearly know where the product comes from, who made it, and what the process is. This is something that is very difficult to do with conventional sales channels.”

Not only for consumption, OCOP points also have the potential to become places connecting tourism, education and community. When combining OCOP product sales points with eco-tours, craft villages, or experience programs for students, the value of OCOP products will not only stop at commercial transactions, but also spread into responsible consumption awareness, pride in hometown products.

Organizing OCOP points systematically also creates favorable conditions for connecting with modern distribution channels such as supermarkets, safe agricultural product chains, or e-commerce. Thereby expanding the market, improving the competitiveness of local products and production and business entities.

Thus, the construction of OCOP product introduction and sales points is a step in line with the orientation of developing rural products associated with the province's unique cultural values. There, each product is not simply a certified commodity, but also a "representative" of a land, a traditional craft, a production story bearing the local mark. When displayed and introduced in a well-organized space, each OCOP product will have more opportunities to assert itself in the market, not only by quality but also by the difference, locality and feeling that the product brings to consumers.

More than a consumption support model, OCOP points are expected to become "touch points" of the homeland's identity, while creating a connection between traditional products and modern consumption needs. This is a long-term direction, demonstrating the thinking of developing the rural economy in a sustainable and profound way. With serious investment, professional approach and the companionship of people and businesses, OCOP Hau Giang can completely reach further, not only in the domestic market but also gradually integrate with the regional market, so that local values spread widely and long-term.
