Philippine rescue teams are still searching for missing people under the rubble after a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the southern part of the country.

Authorities say four people are still missing. In the city of General Santos, some victims are believed to be trapped under the rubble of the Savemore supermarket. Rescue teams are urgently clearing the scene, mobilizing machinery and personnel to reach the collapsed area.

Dioslinda Deluvio, the mother of a missing victim, shared that it is difficult to accept that her son is still trapped under the rubble. Her greatest hope right now is that rescue teams can get her son out today.
The earthquake that struck off the coast of Mindanao on the morning of June 8th has so far killed at least 37 people and injured nearly 500. More than 32,000 people have been urgently evacuated.
In General Santos alone, 13 people died due to building collapses. Approximately 2,500 homes and 117 other structures were damaged. The local international airport remains closed, serving only humanitarian flights.
