Amidst lackluster box office revenue, Hoang Thuy Linh announced that her music documentary "Vietnam Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese" will be leaving theaters in a few days. She affirmed that the film is not under pressure from box office performance.
Documentary Vietnam Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese belong to Hoang Thuy Linh Released on March 14th, the film grossed over 200 million VND after nearly 6 days in theaters. Over the past three weekends, the film earned approximately 140 million VND with a limited number of screenings.
Amidst lackluster box office results, Hoang Thuy Linh announced that the film will be released in theaters in a few days. "Only a few days left," We are Vietnamese. "The film will leave the cinemas so that Linh and her team can give it new tasks... Linh will also bring the film to universities as well as middle and high schools so that everyone can enjoy it," Hoang Thuy Linh shared.
The singer affirmed that the film was never pressured by box office revenue. She admitted that this genre is niche and difficult to attract audiences to theaters. Hoang Thuy Linh hopes that when watching the film, viewers can find some inspiration to overcome difficulties in life.
Initially, Hoang Thuy Linh only intended to screen the film in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with limited screenings. Later, the film increased the number of screenings and expanded its release to Da Nang, Can Tho, and Hai Phong.
Hoang Thuy Linh and her team spent two years completing the film. The film, approximately 90 minutes long, documents the process of creating her first concert after more than 10 years in the entertainment industry.
Each performance is linked to a unique story by Hoang Thuy Linh. Despite the investment in visuals, the film was criticized for its weak content. Audiences also expected Hoang Thuy Linh to sing live in the film rather than the edited and polished audio versions.
