Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, stated: On September 17, 2010, the Minister of Home Affairs issued Decision No. 1081/QD-BNV allowing the establishment of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs. On October 24, 2010, the first Congress of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs took place – a social organization with profound political, social, and humanitarian significance; fulfilling the aspirations of martyr families and society. For over 13 years, the Association has become familiar to many people, especially martyr families. Along with activities honoring martyrs, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs has built and developed a network with 13 provincial (city) level organizations, 22 branches directly under the Central Association, and more than 100 district-level organizations. It has been a member of the State Steering Committee for Project 150 for many years. With the approval of the Department of War Invalids and Martyrs, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Association conducted the collection of remains by grave group, directly organizing the excavation of 11 grave groups at 9 martyrs' cemeteries in Central and Southern Vietnam, collecting 393 remains samples. They also traveled to nearly 20 provinces and cities to collect over 400 biological samples from relatives of martyrs. Initial identification results confirmed 38 correct cases, and the remains were promptly handed over to the martyrs' relatives. The Association also coordinated with relevant agencies and localities to assist families in relocating over 1,200 remains from martyrs' cemeteries in Southern provinces back to their hometowns.Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presents gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Through various fundraising activities, such as the "Paying Tribute to Martyrs" art exchange program, the "Paying Tribute to Martyrs" text messaging program, and meetings with martyrs' families, the Association has attracted thousands of agencies, units, businesses, collectives, and a large number of people to participate and support the Association. Over the past 13 years, the Association and its affiliated organizations have donated more than 1,200 houses of gratitude (60-80 million VND/house), nearly 3,000 savings accounts (5-10 million VND/account), 61,323 gift packages, and provided free medical examinations and medicine to over 26,000 policy beneficiaries. This is evidence of the Association's and its affiliated organizations' efforts in mobilizing sponsorships nationwide, estimated at over 180 billion VND, to show gratitude to the families of martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers across the country. In recognition of the achievements made in the past period, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented the Third-Class Labor Order from the President of Vietnam to the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs and Lieutenant General Le Van Han, former Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, former President of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, and Honorary President of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs.Baoquocte.vn
