(HTV) - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy visited and paid tribute to exemplary cadres, soldiers, and historical witnesses in District 12.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy led a delegation to visit and pay tribute to the cadres, soldiers, and exemplary historical witnesses who directly participated in the Great Victory of Spring 1975 and are currently living in District 12.
The delegation visited the family of Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Thuy – one of the former resistance fighters who continues to actively contribute to local movements. There, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, cordially inquired about her health, extended congratulations on the anniversary of the reunification of the country, and expressed her hope that Ms. Thuy would continue to uphold the revolutionary spirit, remain involved in community activities, and contribute to the overall development of the locality and the city.

Continuing the program, the delegation visited Mr. Mai Hong Luyen in Trung My Tay ward – a former participant in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, currently working in neighborhood 14. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed deep gratitude for his immense contributions to the cause of national liberation; and wished him and his family good health, and continued cooperation with the local government in building and improving the lives of the people in the area.
In particular, the delegation also visited Mr. Le Manh Huong – a former reconnaissance officer of the Southeast Reconnaissance Battalion. During the campaign to capture Phuoc Long, he and his comrades carried out a diversionary mission, misleading the enemy and contributing to creating favorable conditions for the main army to achieve victory. Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, expressed her admiration for the courage, intelligence, and sacrifice of the previous generation. She affirmed that present and future generations will always cherish, preserve, and promote the noble values that the Vietnamese army and people have forged in their struggle for national independence and freedom.
Visiting and expressing gratitude not only demonstrates the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source" but also serves as an opportunity to spread revolutionary spirit and foster patriotism among all segments of the population, especially the younger generation of Ho Chi Minh City today.
