| Investing in expanding connecting roads in Phong Phu ward. |
Advantages of diversified development
Phong Phu Ward was established by merging Phong Thanh Commune – an advanced new rural commune – with Phong Phu Ward of the former Phong Dien town. This area boasts a complete socio -economic development ecosystem with rice paddies, crops, aquaculture areas, traditional craft villages, and especially the planned Dien Loc National Seaport – a strategic advantage for trade and logistics services.
Phong Phu has a well-connected regional transportation system, especially with National Highway 49B running through it, connecting to Quang Tri and coastal areas of Phong Quang ward. The Phong Dien - Dien Loc arterial road, with a total investment of over 770 billion VND and spanning over 16km, has just been completed, facilitating trade connections between Phong Phu and the economic centers of the city and neighboring provinces and cities. Phong Phu is also located near the 700-hectare Phong Dien Industrial Park – one of the largest industrial parks in Hue City. With this advantage, the completion of the Dien Loc seaport will create a new "driving force," supporting goods transportation and providing employment for thousands of local and regional workers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Phu Ward, shared: Currently, the locality is building two small-scale industrial clusters, Dien Loc 1 (27.62ha) and Dien Loc 2 (20.82ha), maintaining the solar power industrial park, and simultaneously calling for investment in many non-budgetary projects approved by Hue City. Among the 14 large projects, 5 projects have attracted investor interest, such as: a resort and golf course complex (270ha), Phong Dien port (17.62ha), and a high-tech super-intensive shrimp farming area (50ha)...
“We always proactively create the best conditions in terms of procedures and land allocation to facilitate the smooth implementation of projects by businesses and investors. When large industrial clusters, seaports, and tourist areas become operational, Phong Phu will experience a leap forward in both economic scale and the quality of life for its people,” said Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Phu Ward.
Besides industry, the service and trade sector in Phong Phu is also making significant progress. Markets such as Dai Loc, Bien, Dien Huong, the commercial center in Ke Mon, and the coastal service areas are bustling with activity. The Dien Loc beach resort renovation project, with a budget of 3 billion VND, will create a highlight for coastal tourism in Hue City in the coming time.
A unique feature of Phong Phu is the The Chi Tay village (formerly part of Dien Hoa commune), which specializes in cultivating ornamental apricot blossom trees. The entire ward currently boasts over 100,000 apricot blossom trees of various ages, generating an average income of approximately 700 million VND per year. This is not only a source of income but also contributes to preserving the traditional cultural beauty of the region.
Focus on the quality of agricultural products.
Despite the rapid growth of industry and services, agriculture remains a solid foundation for Phong Phu. With over 2,000 hectares of rice planted annually and an average yield of 62 quintals/hectare, the locality continues to play the role of the "rice granary" of the region. After land consolidation, the flat fields and upgraded irrigation system have facilitated mechanization, saving labor and improving production efficiency.
Recently, the people of Phong Phu ward have boldly innovated their production and farming models. Over 75 hectares of low-yield rice land have been converted to lotus cultivation, bringing higher economic value. Approximately 300 hectares of various vegetables yield an average income of 200 million VND/hectare/year. Phong Phu has two OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, Hang Huong turmeric starch and Dien Mon nem (a type of plant), which continue to be maintained and widely promoted, establishing a foothold in the market. The agricultural sector in Phong Phu has been developing in the direction of safety and high quality, linked to the commodity value chain. This is a pillar that goes hand in hand with industry, services, and trade, helping the local economy develop sustainably.
Mr. Phan Hong Anh, Secretary of the Phong Phu Ward Party Committee, said: "The locality is facing a major turning point for transformation. When the Dien Loc Seaport is completed and industrial, service, and tourism projects come into operation, along with the connection with the Phong Dien Industrial Park, the locality will become an important trade gateway in the northern area of Hue City."
