On June 16th, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, An Giang province, in coordination with relevant agencies, organized the forced land reclamation against those who had not complied with handing over the land in An Thoi Ward 6 and An Thoi Ward 7, Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone.

Authorities are implementing a decision to forcibly reclaim land from 22 households.
Accordingly, the total area of land subject to forced reclamation is 37,555 m², comprising 24 plots of land, involving 22 individuals in Ward 6 and Ward 7 of An Thoi.
The land to be acquired is for the mixed-use urban development project - Bai Dat Do and the mixed-use eco-tourism urban development project - Nui Ong Quan. These are two projects serving the APEC 2027 conference.
Before carrying out the forced eviction, local authorities and relevant agencies reviewed records, conducted awareness campaigns, and held dialogues with the affected parties. However, some households and individuals still did not agree with the compensation and support plan and had not handed over the land.

Enforcement forces proceeded with dismantling and relocating assets to reclaim the land.
To ensure the security and safety of the enforcement operation, the An Giang Provincial Police and the Phu Quoc Special Zone Police were assigned forces to maintain security and order throughout the enforcement process, ensuring that the enforcement was carried out in the correct order, in accordance with the law, and safely for the people, participating forces, and related property.
The forced land reclamation by the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone aims to ensure the effective implementation of issued land reclamation decisions, while also resolving obstacles in land clearance work and creating favorable conditions for the implementation of key projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference.
