Over a year after its establishment, the Co Tu traditional brocade weaving group has gradually become more organized and systematic, transforming into a unique tourist attraction for locals and visitors.

According to Ms. Bhling Thi Xiec, the head of the weaving group, after a period of operation, the traditional weaving group now has 15 members, mostly women from the village.

Besides being open to tourists, the weaving workshop space regularly serves as a weekly forum for exchanging and sharing experiences in the weaving craft. This helps improve the skills of the women workers while contributing to the creation of unique products for the market.

"The entire brocade weaving process involves consultation among members, aiming to create products that best reflect the unique characteristics of the Co Tu people."

"This is our top priority because, through the unique handcrafted products of our weaving group, we aim to preserve the original cultural values of the Co Tu people, avoiding innovations that would distort tradition, especially the color combinations and bead patterns on Co Tu brocade fabrics," Ms. Xiec shared.

More than two months ago, at the 4th Co Tu Traditional Culture Festival in Song Kon commune, this brocade weaving workshop became a place to welcome locals and tourists.

With their skillful hands, the Co Tu artisans demonstrate each step of weaving brocade, much to the delight and amazement of tourists. This is truly a fascinating experience for visitors when they set foot in the unique Co Tu cultural village in the Eastern Truong Son Mountains.

According to Ms. Dinh Thi Ngoi, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Song Kon commune, the products of the brocade weaving group have been and continue to be promoted and introduced to the community as well as domestic and international tourists.

The diversity and sophistication in the weaving techniques have created unique product designs, from jackets and skirts to scarves and loincloths, helping them find a place in the mountain brocade market.

"Last year, at the event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Dong Giang district, the products of the Co Tu traditional brocade weaving group in Song Kon commune were showcased for the first time, becoming meaningful gifts for delegates and distinguished guests."

"To create momentum for the restoration of traditional craft villages, in the coming time, we will continue to develop the scale of the weaving group's operations; at the same time, expand the market and create more unique products to help increase the income of the weaving group members," Ms. Ngoi said.
