According to Neang Sam Bo, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of O Lam commune, after implementing the two-tiered local government model, the Party Committee and people of the commune have continued to uphold revolutionary traditions, unite to overcome difficulties, and strive to carry out socio-economic development tasks, achieving many important results. The local economy has developed stably, infrastructure has received investment, and people's lives have improved. Along with economic development, the locality pays special attention to caring for the cultural and spiritual lives of the people.

According to Ms. Néang Sâm Bô, the movement for national unity in building a cultured way of life has yielded many practical results. The civilized customs in weddings and funerals are increasingly being practiced by the people, ensuring solemnity, economy, and minimizing cumbersome procedures and formalities. Mass cultural, artistic, and sports activities are maintained and widely developed. The registration, evaluation, and recognition of cultural titles are carried out openly and democratically, contributing to improving the quality of these titles. To date, 94.3% of households in the commune have achieved the standard of a cultured family, all 18 hamlets have achieved the standard of a cultured hamlet, and 32.2% of households have achieved the standard of a sports family.

Many families have become exemplary models in implementing the movement. Mr. Chau Tung's family in An Ninh hamlet has been recognized as a culturally exemplary family for many years. Mr. Tung said: “I regularly remind my children and grandchildren to focus on their studies and to be filial to their grandparents and parents. At the same time, I actively encourage people in the hamlet to participate in emulation movements and activities launched by the local authorities.”

With over 65% of its population being Khmer people, the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural identity has always been a priority for the Party Committee and the local government of O Lam commune. Many activities to preserve traditional art forms such as the five-tone music, Plêng Ka, and Chà Pây instruments are maintained and developed. The locality creates conditions for artisans to participate in performances and teach the younger generation. Many Khmer temples in the area maintain traditional performing arts groups, attracting a large number of students and young people to participate.

Venerable Chau Son Hy, Abbot of Sa Lon Pagoda, shared: “With the attention of the Party Committee and the government at all levels, many activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of the Khmer people are regularly organized, creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere in the villages. Besides maintaining cultural and artistic activities and folk games during traditional Khmer festivals, the pagoda also actively mobilizes social resources and works with the local government to care for the poor and help households in difficult circumstances improve their lives.”

Building on the achievements, in the coming period, O Lam commune will continue to improve the quality of the movement for national unity in building a cultured life, linking it with patriotic emulation movements, building new rural areas, and effectively implementing ethnic programs and policies. The locality will continue to mobilize resources to invest in building and upgrading the system of cultural institutions, creating conditions for people to participate in and enjoy increasingly rich cultural activities, contributing to improving the quality of life.
