Pogba 'disappears'

Paul Pogba's future is becoming increasingly uncertain as the French midfielder continues to be absent from AS Monaco's matchday squad.

On January 10th, the former Manchester United and Juventus star was left out of Monaco's squad for their 3-1 victory over Orleans in the French Cup. The team announced that Pogba was suffering from a muscle problem. This injury has plagued him since December 2025 and has shown no clear signs of recovery to date.

Since joining Monaco in August 2025, Pogba has made almost no significant impact on the pitch. After a long period of inactivity, the return of the 2018 World Cup winner generated much anticipation.

However, the reality is harsh, as Pogba has only played less than 30 minutes since the start of the season, a modest number for a player once considered a key figure for the French national team.

A series of injuries have disrupted Pogba's return. Although Monaco has pledged to help the midfielder recover and regain his peak form, recurring fitness issues have kept the 31-year-old sidelined for months. Even more worrying, Monaco has yet to set a date for Pogba's return.

On Monaco's side, the management insists they are in no hurry and remain satisfied with Pogba's training attitude and professionalism. However, ninth place in Ligue 1 is clearly not the desired result, and this adds some pressure on both Pogba and the coaching staff.

Pogba once had ambitions to participate in the 2026 World Cup. But given the current situation, that possibility is becoming increasingly distant.
