Affordable beverage stalls are very popular in the summer.

(Baohatinh.vn) - With the sweltering summer weather and increased demand for cooling drinks, the number of customers at affordable beverage shops in Ha Tinh City has increased significantly compared to normal days.

These days, Ha Tinh is experiencing hot weather with outdoor temperatures sometimes reaching 37-38 degrees Celsius. According to observations at several affordable beverage stalls selling refreshing drinks like sugarcane juice and coconut water along many streets in Ha Tinh City, such as Phan Dinh Phung, Nguyen Bieu, and Le Duan, the number of customers has increased compared to normal days.

Mr. Vo Phi Dong, owner of a sugarcane juice stall on Phan Dinh Phung Street, said: “During the hot summer months, the stall attracts significantly more customers, especially on hot days. We serve various bottled drinks, but sugarcane juice and coconut water are our two best-selling items. The stall is open from early morning until evening, with the busiest times being lunchtime and dinnertime.”

The customers are mainly office workers who stop by to buy takeout or freelancers who want to take a break after a hard day's work. To meet the increased demand, Mr. Dong has to constantly press sugarcane and chop coconuts.

With just a small pushcart, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh (Nguyen Bieu Street, Ha Tinh City) sells more than 100 cups of various drinks every day, such as kumquat tea, lemon tea, passion fruit juice, Thai tea, etc. Ms. Binh said: " The number of customers varies depending on the temperature of the day, especially increasing sharply during the recent hot days. Most customers are young people."

According to observations at the establishments, in addition to customers drinking on-site, many customers also order online and buy takeout. Therefore, delivery drivers are constantly present at the beverage shops to pick up orders for delivery.

According to business owners, customers generally start to flock in from the end of April, when the weather turns hot. On intensely hot days, the number of customers increases many times compared to normal days.

Common prices for sugarcane juice and coconut water are 10,000 VND/cup; lemon tea and kumquat tea are 10-15,000 VND/cup; and fruit teas, fruit juices, and smoothies sold at small stalls cost 20-25,000 VND/cup. Besides the low prices, sidewalk drink stalls are popular due to their convenience. Customers only need to pull over to the side of the road for a few minutes to get a refreshing drink.

According to business owners, nowadays, instead of using bottled soft drinks, people tend to seek out natural beverages such as sugarcane juice, coconut water, lemon tea, smoothies, herbal tea, iced tea, and fruit juices to quench their thirst.

"It's quite tiring walking around in the hot sun, so I often stop at roadside stalls to buy a drink to refresh myself. I usually choose things like coconut water, sugarcane juice, or freshly squeezed fruit juice, rarely bottled water. In the evenings, I also often sit and drink with friends and family at sidewalk cafes," shared Mr. Hoang Nam (Ha Tinh City).

Mr. Doan Trong Khang, owner of a fruit juice shop on Le Duan Street (Ha Tinh City), said: “At a price of 15,000-20,000 VND per cup, juices made from fresh fruits like oranges, pineapples, and watermelons are very popular. Our shop mainly has online customers, and during the hot summer days, the number of orders is quite high.”

During the evening hours on hot days, many sidewalk beverage stalls in the Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh street area and Trần Phú square are packed with customers.

Due to high consumer demand, businesses supplying raw materials such as sugarcane, coconuts, and fruits are also busier than usual to meet the supply.

Mr. Le Huu Dung, owner of a sugarcane and coconut business on 26/3 Street (Ha Tinh City), shared: " For about a month now, the volume of goods sold by our business has increased by over 50% compared to before. Currently, on average, we import more than 1,000 coconuts and 2-3 tons of sugarcane daily for beverage shops in Ha Tinh City and some neighboring districts."

The recent heatwave has presented a significant income opportunity for businesses and budget-friendly beverage stalls, while also offering a refreshing escape for the public. However, street food and drinks also pose many potential food safety and hygiene risks, so consumers should be cautious when choosing these beverages.
