To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, on the morning of December 14th, at Ba Dinh Square ( Hanoi ), the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense organized a ceremony to report on achievements and pay respects at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh. General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, presided over the ceremony.

In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the Army has always been the core force, together with the entire people, in maintaining the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; protecting the Party, the State, the people, and the socialist regime; and excellently fulfilling its functions as a "fighting force," a "working force," and a "productive labor force." On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the Army was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order.
