TPO – Following reports of food rations being reduced at the Nậm Tỵ Ethnic Boarding Primary School ( Sơn La province), the People's Committee of Sông Mã district has decided to remove Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hà from her position as the school's principal.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, formerly the Principal of Nam Ty Ethnic Boarding Primary School, was relieved of her duties as principal following reports of inadequate and insufficiently portioned meals for impoverished students. The Song Ma District People's Committee transferred her to Chieng Khoong Primary School, where she will serve as a teacher, effective December 2nd, 2024. Ms. Ha holds a university degree in primary education .
The People's Committee of Song Ma District also instructed relevant units to continue reviewing the quality of school lunch programs in all schools in the area and to strictly handle any violations (if any).
Previously, the People's Committee of Song Ma District (Son La Province) submitted a report regarding the school lunch issue at Nam Ty Ethnic Boarding Primary School in Nam Ty Commune, Song Ma District. According to the report, a working group from the District People's Committee met with the school's Board of Directors and Principal Nguyen Thi Ha.
Following the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, the school principal, expressed her desire to resign and submitted a letter of resignation. The People's Committee of Song Ma District appointed the Deputy Head of the District Education and Training Department to be in charge of the school until a new principal is appointed.

Reportedly, after inspection teams verified the students' meal portions, the quality of the meals improved. The students' meals are now more substantial and nutritionally balanced.
Specifically, for today's lunch (December 3rd), the students' menu has been improved with rice, stir-fried meat, stir-fried vegetables with meat, and vegetable soup.
As reported by Tien Phong newspaper, parents with children attending Nam Ty Ethnic Boarding Primary School previously complained that since October, their children had been complaining about the bland and unappetizing school meals. Parents went to the school to check and found meager meals with little vegetable soup and sausages; some meals consisted only of vegetables and boiled eggs, others only of vegetables and tofu, and some even included meat… Parents raised their concerns with the school's management, but the students' meals did not improve.

Later, an inspection team from the education department visited the school and discovered that the menu for many of the boarding students' meals throughout the week consisted only of boiled eggs and fried sausages. At the time of the inspection (November 28th), the school's publicly displayed meal menu and expenditure per student showed a shortfall of nearly 5,000 VND per student.
According to Decree 116/CP of 2016 by the Prime Minister , the policy to support students and schools in particularly difficult communes and villages stipulates a support level of 936,000 VND/month/student. For primary school students who participate in the school lunch program for 22 days/month, the meal allowance will be 42,545 VND/day/student.
