On the afternoon of November 28th, at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly , the process of approving the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court regarding the appointment of Supreme People's Court judges was carried out.
According to a press release from the Secretary General of the National Assembly, the National Assembly voted electronically to approve the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court regarding the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan and Mr. Le Tien as Supreme People's Court judges.
The results showed that 451 delegates participated in the vote (94.15% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), with 448 delegates voting in favor (93.53% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), 1 delegate voting against (0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), and 2 delegates abstaining from voting (0.42% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan was born in 1975 in Ninh Binh province. He is a member of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress and holds a PhD in Law.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan has held various positions, including: Deputy Commander of the Mobile Police Command ( Ministry of Public Security); Director of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Police; Deputy Secretary and then Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Party Committee. Since July 2021, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan has been the Secretary of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee.
Mr. Le Tien, born in 1969, has a long career in the prosecution sector. From April 1, 2020, Mr. Le Tien was seconded to the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Da Nang City People's Procuracy for a term of 3 years.
Currently, Mr. Le Tien is the Director of Department 10 (Department for Supervising the Resolution of Administrative Cases, Commercial and Business Cases, Labor Cases, and Other Cases as Prescribed by Law) of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
According to the Law on the Organization of the People's Courts, the number of members of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court is not less than 13 and not more than 17, including the Chief Justice, the Deputy Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Court who are Supreme People's Court Judges, and Supreme People's Court Judges.
Currently, the Supreme People's Court's Council of Judges has 15 members. With the National Assembly's approval of the appointments of the two additional members, the Supreme People's Court's Council of Judges now has 17 members.
