The National Assembly will vote on tuition fee exemptions and subsidies for students.

(Quang Ngai Newspaper) - Today (June 26), the National Assembly will vote to approve a resolution on tuition fee exemption and support for preschool children, primary and secondary school students, and learners in general education programs at educational institutions within the national education system.

At the same time, delegates will also vote to approve a Resolution on universal preschool education for kindergarten children aged 3 to 5 years old.

Article 2 of the draft Resolution clearly stipulates the exemption of tuition fees for preschool children, primary and secondary school students, and learners in general education programs in public educational institutions; and tuition fee support for preschool children, primary and secondary school students, and learners in general education programs in private and non-governmental educational institutions.

The authority to decide on the level of tuition fee support rests with the People's Council of the province or centrally-administered city, based on the tuition fee framework stipulated by the Government , but not exceeding the tuition fee charged by private or non-profit educational institutions.

Regarding funding (Article 3), the draft Resolution clearly states that the state budget and central budget will support disadvantaged localities that have not yet balanced their budgets to implement the policy (including localities that have already implemented tuition fee exemptions and support). Regarding the effective date (Article 5), the regulation stipulates that it will be applied from the 2025-2026 school year to allow the Government time to prepare the necessary conditions from the date the Resolution takes effect.
