Quy Nhon is almost fully booked for early summer.

The VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2023 race caused hotel occupancy rates at this tourist destination to skyrocket, reaching 80%.

On June 11th, the VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon (VM Quy Nhon) will take place with 10,000 athletes. This is the fourth year the event has been held in Binh Dinh province. Several travel agencies with bookings for Quy Nhon during this period have confirmed that it is very difficult to find suitable accommodation due to many establishments being fully booked.

Data from Mustgo, a partner of approximately 100 hotels in Quy Nhon, confirms that most 2-3 star hotels are fully booked, with only a small number of rooms remaining for the period from June 9th to June 12th.

The 4-5 star segment also saw high occupancy rates for hotels like Anya Quy Nhon (100% booked on June 9th). Other partner hotels in higher price ranges still had rooms available, but the number was limited. Overall, during the race, the average occupancy rate in Quy Nhon could reach 80%.

Ms. Hoang Tuyet, the director of a travel company, said she had to spend the whole day scrambling to find suitable rooms for her clients after unexpectedly acquiring a series of airline tickets for the period from June 10th to June 13th.

Regarding airfare, the cost of traveling from Hanoi to Quy Nhon during the race period is around 3 million VND round trip, similar to the same period in previous years.

Explaining why many hotels were fully booked between June 9th and 12th despite the race taking place on June 11th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Lan, Vice President of the Binh Dinh Tourism Association, said that athletes tend to arrive early. They want to practice running beforehand, familiarize themselves with the terrain and weather, or simply combine it with a family vacation.

"During the race, many large groups of tourists from travel companies, if they don't book their rooms in advance, have to split up and go to different places. Athletes usually gather in the central area for convenience in participating in the race, instead of in the Nhon Ly area, which is about 20 km away," Ms. Lan said.

Besides helping to boost hotel occupancy in Quy Nhon in a short period, Ms. Lan also highly appreciated the race for contributing to promoting the image of tourism in the city as well as the entire Binh Dinh province. The representative of the Binh Dinh Provincial Tourism Association hopes that the race will be held annually, thereby building a brand and helping more tourists learn about Quy Nhon.

The 4th VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon, taking place on June 11th, is expected to attract around 10,000 athletes from Vietnam and abroad. Runners will have the opportunity to traverse beautiful routes, admire the crescent-shaped Xuan Dieu beach, cross the Thi Nai bridge, or watch the sunrise on the Phuong Mai sand dunes. Athletes can also combine sports with a family beach vacation during the summer.
