Launching the Vietnamese Agricultural Products Map
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a Digital Agricultural Product Map. This platform allows users to search for characteristic agricultural products from 34 provinces and cities. It includes information such as origin, contact details, and production areas for each product.
This platform marks the beginning of a goal to build a unified database of Vietnamese agricultural products nationwide, contributing to the promotion and connection of agricultural product consumption in the market. After its launch, this map will be regularly updated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and made public at www.dms.gov.vn.
According to the implementation plan, in the initial phase, the Vietnam Agricultural Products Map will introduce a number of typical agricultural products from each province and city, representing the advantages, identity, and distinctive economic value of each locality. The product list will be proposed by the Departments of Industry and Trade of each province and city, based on ensuring criteria of quality, reputation, and regional representation. This approach helps reflect the diverse and rich picture of Vietnamese agricultural products, while also creating a foundation for expanding and improving the database in subsequent phases.
This initial selection aims not only to showcase typical products bearing the distinctive characteristics of each locality, but also to lay the foundation for the completion and expansion of the national agricultural product database in the future. Through this, the goal is to build a unified, up-to-date, and transparent database of Vietnamese agricultural products, connecting farmers, businesses, and consumers, effectively serving management, trade promotion, and the promotion of the image of Vietnamese agricultural products in both domestic and international markets.
Beyond its introductory role, the Vietnam Agricultural Products Map is envisioned as an open search platform providing comprehensive information on the origin, growing regions, production processes, quality certifications, as well as businesses, cooperatives involved in production, and domestic distribution channels. With this data, the map serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a bridge between producers, consumers, distributors, and export partners, contributing to enhanced competitiveness and increased brand value for Vietnamese agricultural products.
"We expect that each product featured on the map will not only reflect quality and prestige, but also spread cultural values, work ethic, and distinctive characteristics of each region across Vietnam," said a representative from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development.
