(CLO) The Kien Giang Gazetteer consists of 3 volumes with a total of 789 pages, providing a fairly comprehensive and systematic record of the natural geography, history, culture, economy , and society of Kien Giang province from the past to the present.
After 20 years of diligent research, the Kien Giang Gazetteer, comprising three volumes, has been published and announced by the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department on the afternoon of December 17th.
According to Tong Phuoc Truong, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, Kien Giang is a province located in the far southwest of Vietnam and is considered a "miniature Vietnam" due to its rich and unique topography, ranging from plains and hills to islands and coastal areas. The province is also home to the Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer ethnic groups, resulting in a diverse culture and customs.

To introduce readers to the history and people of Kien Giang province, the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Kien Giang province organized the research and compilation of the Kien Giang Gazetteer.
After 20 years of research and compilation, the Kien Giang Gazetteer has been completed and published. The book is divided into 6 parts across 3 volumes, totaling 789 pages, providing a comprehensive and systematic record of the natural geography, history, culture, economy, and society of Kien Giang province from the past to the present.
The appendices illustrate the content presented directly within the main body of the material for the reader's convenience, rather than being structured as separate sections.
Regarding the timeframe, the Kien Giang Gazetteer defines the period from the formation of the Southern region of Vietnam to 2015. However, some detailed sections include additional data up to 2020 as a trend for subsequent years, to align with the time of publication.
Mr. Tong Phuoc Truong affirmed that the Kien Giang Gazetteer is not only a significant scientific and cultural work of Kien Giang province, but also a valuable, authoritative educational document serving research, teaching, and understanding of Kien Giang province.
