Introducing the Syn18 three-line hybrid rice variety.

- On June 3rd, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Syngenta Corporation held a launch event for the Syn18 three-line hybrid rice product. Attending the launch were leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Crop Production Department, dealers, and farmers from five provinces: Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, and Yen Bai.

Syn18, a three-line hybrid rice variety developed by Syngenta Corporation, is recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and will be tested in Hamlet 8, Tan Long Commune (Yen Son District) during the spring crop of 2025.

After a period of trial cultivation, the Syn18 three-line hybrid rice variety has shown superior characteristics, including a short growing season and good growth in all weather conditions; the estimated yield is 66.2-86.8 quintals/hectare. This rice variety is expected to overcome the limitations of traditional rice varieties, while simultaneously increasing yield and resistance to pests and diseases. This is one of the agricultural sector's efforts to restructure crop production, improve agricultural product quality, and adapt to climate change.

The launch of Syn18 not only opens up opportunities to increase income for farmers but also contributes to ensuring food security and promoting the sustainable development of the rice industry; expanding production scale, Syngenta Group is committed to continuing to support farmers in accessing and cultivating the Syn18 rice variety, ensuring that this new rice variety will maximize its potential and bring about abundant harvests.
