According to reports, localities in the western region of the province have basically completed land preparation and are entering the peak planting season. After the Lunar New Year, farmers are taking advantage of water resources to focus on preparing the land for planting according to the seasonal schedule. In the fields of Lien Hoa ward in the first days of the new year, farmers are urgently bringing water into the fields and planting seeds, ready for the new production season.

Mr. Le Van Chien, from Zone 7, Lien Hoa Ward, said: "Right at the beginning of spring, when agricultural officials started their work, people also went down to the fields to irrigate. We expect to start transplanting the spring rice in about 10 days. My family is transplanting 10 sao (approximately 1000 square meters), the seedlings are ready, we're just waiting for enough water to sow them."
Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Vu Nho Quang from Zone 7 said: "This area doesn't have a reliable water supply like some other places; we mainly rely on irrigation ditches and spring rains, so we have to plan the planting season very carefully. My family cultivates more than one acre of rice, mainly to ensure food security. We have to take advantage of the early spring planting season to achieve the best results."

Not only in Lien Hoa, but in many localities throughout the province, farmers are proactively preparing high-quality rice seeds and sufficient agricultural supplies, while also actively dredging canals to ensure water resources for production. Local authorities are strengthening coordination with the Department of Agriculture to guide farmers in selecting appropriate crop varieties, prioritizing high-quality rice varieties with good pest and disease resistance and adaptability to weather conditions. Simultaneously, relevant agencies are intensifying inspections of the agricultural supply market to ensure stable supply and reasonable prices.

Along with rice production, many localities are expanding the area of cash crops, vegetables, and short-term food crops to increase the value per unit of cultivated land. The atmosphere of labor in the fields is therefore even more urgent and bustling. According to the provincial Department of Agriculture, proactively starting work early and ensuring timely land preparation and planting according to the seasonal schedule is crucial and determines the yield and output of the entire crop.
Mr. Pham Duy Duan, Head of the Technical Department, Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department, Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: Immediately after Tet, farmers in the province focused on preparing the land and planting spring crops. To date, the entire province has planted over 8,000 hectares. In the coming time, specialized units will continue to closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level, provide technical guidance on care and pest control, and closely monitor weather developments to promptly advise farmers on appropriate response measures.
According to the plan of the Department of Agriculture, in 2026, the total cultivated area of the province is expected to reach 32,827.5 hectares; of which the rice area is approximately 14,568 hectares. The province aims for a food production output of approximately 215,742 tons. Currently, grain production has reached 5,106 tons, equivalent to 100% of the planned target. According to the plan, by the end of March, localities will complete the spring planting, ensuring adherence to the planting schedule. The Department of Agriculture will continue to support and guide farmers in caring for and controlling pests and diseases, striving for high yields and quality in the 2026 spring crop.

In the coming period, the agricultural sector will continue to promote the transfer of scientific and technological advancements, guide farmers in applying advanced cultivation processes, using balanced fertilizers, saving irrigation water, and gradually increasing production value per unit area. Production-consumption linkages will also be emphasized to create stable outlets, contributing to increased income for farmers. With the proactive approach of all levels and sectors, along with the enthusiastic labor of farmers, the Spring 2026 crop is showing many positive signs, thus creating an important foundation for the agricultural sector to achieve its growth targets and contribute to the overall development of the province.
