Hung said that growing up, he used to feel insecure because he was different from his friends and gradually withdrew into himself. However, he never despaired and always tried to face his circumstances, strive to achieve what others could, and wanted to help ease his mother's burden.
Refusing to surrender to fate, Hung found motivation in sports . Swimming not only helped him overcome his insecurities but also instilled self-confidence. When he was first called up to the national team, Hung felt happy and proud that his efforts had been recognized, and that he had the opportunity to represent his country in competitions.
