Real Madrid are targeting three strikers.

During the 2025 summer transfer window, Real Madrid is determined to recruit a true "number 9" striker, one who can hold up the ball and support teammates like Joselu used to.

Coach Xabi Alonso believes that the club's decision to let Joselu leave last summer deprived Real Madrid of a quality attacking option. The club is in desperate need of a true "number 9" striker.

In Alonso's system at Bayer Leverkusen, the coach always preferred to use a tall, strong center forward who could support the team, like Victor Boniface or Patrik Schick.

El Pais reports that Ante Budimir (Osasuna), Niclas Füllkrug (West Ham United), and Roberto Firmino (Al-Ahli) are three names on Real Madrid's radar. These are all inexpensive targets, but experienced and willing to play as substitutes.

Firmino, despite being in the twilight of his career, still demonstrated his class in the Al-Ahli shirt during the 2024/25 season with 12 goals and 10 assists in 31 matches. In total, the 33-year-old Brazilian striker scored 21 goals and provided 17 assists in 65 matches for Al-Ahli.

Firmino possesses the composure needed in big matches, a quality essential for playing for Real Madrid. With his contract at Al-Ahli only running until summer 2026, Real Madrid wouldn't need to spend a fortune to acquire him.

Meanwhile, Ante Budimir is familiar with the La Liga environment, having played consistently for Osasuna. Füllkrug, on the other hand, brings experience from the Champions League and is the type of striker Real Madrid are looking for: ability to hold up the ball, link up with teammates, and especially dangerous in aerial duels.

Coach Alonso believes that a true center forward could be a turning point for the Spanish capital club in the 2025/26 season. Having a player who can hold up the ball upfront would free up Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., two players who prefer playing on the wings rather than in the center.
