After four years of deployment, the new version of Proteus now integrates artificial intelligence (AI), capable of receiving commands from warehouse staff via chat without the need for written commands or a programming interface. The operational range of this AI robot has also been expanded.

Proteus robots move packages at the distribution center.
Tye Brady, head of technology at Amazon Robotics, said that deploying Proteus robots helps reduce repetitive tasks, allowing employees to focus on more skill-intensive tasks such as inventory management and quality control.

New technologies aim to improve operational efficiency and optimize the supply chain.
Proteus is still undergoing testing. The world's largest e-commerce group plans to deploy the robot across Europe from the first half of 2027, as part of a plan to modernize its distribution centers on the continent.
