The turning point of the match came in the 61st minute at Aspmyra Stadium, when Rodri received his first yellow card for a tactical foul aimed at preventing a counter-attack by a Bodo/Glimt player. Just 53 seconds later, he pulled down another opponent in a similar situation and was forced to receive a second yellow card, resulting in his sending off.

This is the first time since 2005 that a Premier League player has been sent off so quickly in the Champions League. The last player to experience a similar situation was Wayne Rooney when Manchester United faced Villarreal.

Playing with ten men, Man City were completely outplayed for the remainder of the match. Bodo/Glimt even had two more goals disallowed for offside and a shot hit the crossbar.

The wave of criticism against Rodri intensified on social media. One fan commented: "I can't believe this is the player who once won the Ballon d'Or." Another fan remarked: "Rodri needs to understand that when he gets sent off, it's all over for Man City."

This defeat is all the more disappointing as Man City missed the chance to finish in the top three of this season's Champions League qualifying rounds.
