
Accordingly, the ceremony was held solemnly with the procession of the royal decree and traditional sacrificial rituals to commemorate and express gratitude for the merits of the ancestors who pioneered and established the village. In the ancient setting of Tuy Loan Village Temple, the elders in traditional attire performed the sacrificial rituals according to ancient customs, demonstrating the local people's principle of "drinking water, remembering the source."
Besides the ceremonial part, the festival is vibrant with many unique cultural and sporting activities. Highlights include the boat race on the Tuy Loan River. Traditional games such as tug-of-war and pot-breaking, along with competitions in baking rice paper and wrapping banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), create a joyful atmosphere and foster community bonding. The traditional Bài Chòi folk art performance, folk song performances, and stalls selling local cuisine offer visitors authentic rural experiences.
Earlier, on the morning of February 24th (the 8th day of the Lunar New Year), the people of Nghi Son village (part of Nghi Son hamlet, Que Son Trung commune) held the Khai Son festival, praying for a year of favorable weather.
Khai Son is a traditional festival deeply rooted in folk beliefs, preserved by generations of people in Nghi Son village for hundreds of years. Through this ritual, the people express their profound respect and gratitude to their ancestors who founded the village, while also praying for a peaceful new year.
From early morning, the elders, dignitaries, and villagers, dressed in their finest attire, gathered at the Cay Bang village communal house to perform the ritual of welcoming the village's tutelary deity, other revered gods, earth spirits, and ancestral figures from the Cam Mieu forest to the communal house. The Khai Son ceremony was meticulously and solemnly prepared by the villagers, in accordance with village customs, and presided over by the Ceremony Committee and representatives of the clans.
Alongside the worship ceremony, the people of Nghi Son village organize lion dances, sing "Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity," hold village chess competitions, and play traditional folk games to strengthen community bonds and work together to build a more prosperous village.
Mr. Ngo Van Nhanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Son Trung commune, shared that to elevate the Khai Son festival, the local government has included it in the series of cultural, sports, and artistic activities at the beginning of spring. Through this, they aim to promote the local image and develop tourism .
