Returning after a three-year cycle, the 8th Bo Ban Village Temple Festival boasts a richer appearance with a harmonious blend of ceremonial and festive elements. Traditional rituals such as the spring prayer for peace and the offering of incense to commemorate ancestors were conducted solemnly, preserving the village's ancient customs.
Diverse village festival activities

The festival was lively, recreating the atmosphere of a rural village through various traditional activities and folk games, attracting a large number of participants.
Games like pounding rice, scooping water with a bucket, and catching fish evoke the lifestyle and labor of our ancestors. In addition, activities like chess, checkers, and other board games enrich the festive atmosphere.
Participating in folk games at the festival, Ms. Tan Thi Dung, a resident of Bo Ban village, shared: “Activities like pounding rice, scooping water, and catching fish, which seemed so far away, were very enjoyable when they were organized again. Older people like us felt nostalgic, while the younger generation enthusiastically participated and cheered very warmly.”
In particular, the traditional boat race continues to be a highlight, attracting a large number of people to watch and cheer. This year, the boat race has been expanded in scale, with the participation of teams from within and outside the village, creating a vibrant and unifying atmosphere.

“The festival is not only an occasion to commemorate our ancestors but also a way to preserve and pass on the cultural values of the village to future generations. Through these activities, people, especially the younger generation, gain a better understanding of the lifestyle and traditions of their homeland, thereby becoming more attached to and responsible for preserving them,” Mr. Thanh shared.

The joy of reunion, spreading traditional values.
Bo Ban village was formed in the late 15th century, when the ancestors of the Tran, Ho, Truong, and Nguyen clans from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces came to reclaim land and establish settlements. During its development, the village communal house was built as a place of worship and community activities.
In 1999, Bo Ban communal house was recognized as a national-level architectural and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). To this day, the complex of relics associated with Bo Ban communal house also includes the Than Nong shrine, the Am Linh temple, the war memorial stele, and the tomb of the village's ancestors, preserving many historical traces of the village.
From that foundation, the village festival becomes an occasion for people to gather and bond. The atmosphere of preparation and participation in the festival spreads throughout the village, from the elderly to the youth, everyone is excited.

Mr. Hong Viet Khoa, a resident of Bo Ban village, shared: “It only happens once every three years, so everyone is excited and enthusiastic. When the festival comes around, the whole village becomes lively; everyone prepares together, goes to watch, and cheers. The traditional activities are recreated, making everyone feel familiar and proud.”
According to Mr. Khoa, what is valuable is that the festival is not only about the lively atmosphere but also contributes to preserving long-lasting values. "We hope the festival will be maintained regularly and organized in an increasingly professional manner so that our descendants can better understand our traditions. At the same time, it will help spread the image of Bo Ban village to tourists near and far," Mr. Khoa said.

Beyond creating a joyful atmosphere, the festival is also an opportunity to recall memories of the countryside, thereby connecting generations. The traditional cultural values preserved through each festival season become the foundation for the locality to strive towards building a distinctive cultural village.
From there, it contributes to strengthening community bonds and fostering love and pride for their homeland in each resident of Bo Ban; so that the beautiful cultural features of the village continue to be preserved and spread in life today and in the future.
