OpenAI's announcement appears to have brought to a close a tumultuous week, paving the way for the reinstatement of Sam Altman as CEO. Prior to this, the company had unexpectedly announced that Altman was no longer CEO and had stepped down from the board.

In addition, OpenAI's board of directors will also undergo significant changes. Former Salesforce CEO Bret Taylor, Quora founder Adam D'Angelo, and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers have been selected as new board members. Bret Taylor will serve as Chairman of the OpenAI Board of Directors.
Shortly afterward, Sam Altman posted a new message on his personal page, stating: “I love OpenAI and everything I’ve done in the last few days has been aimed at keeping the team’s mission alive. When I decided to join Microsoft Sunday night, it was clearly the best path for me and the team. With the new board of directors and support from Satya, I look forward to returning to OpenAI and building a strong partnership with Microsoft.”
