Sam Altman reinstated as CEO of OpenAI

In OpenAI's latest statement, they have reached an "agreement in principle" on Sam Altman returning to the CEO position, and the company is also changing the structure of its board of directors.

OpenAI's announcement appears to cap a tumultuous week, paving the way for the reinstatement of Sam Altman as CEO. The company had earlier made a surprise announcement that Altman was no longer CEO and had stepped down from the board.

Former Salesforce CEO Bret Taylor, Quora founder Adam D'Angelo and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers have been selected to become new members of the company's board of directors. Bret Taylor will serve as Chairman of OpenAI's board of directors.

Shortly after, on his personal page, Sam Altman posted a new share, with the content: “I love OpenAI and everything I have done over the past few days has been aimed at maintaining the team’s mission. When I decided to join Microsoft on Sunday evening, it was clear that it was the best path for me and the team. With the new board and Satya’s support, I look forward to returning to OpenAI and building on our strong partnership with Microsoft.”
