This coming August, the households growing Ngoc Linh ginseng in the Tak Hrang outpost (Tra Linh commune, Nam Tra My district) will be selecting the most beautiful ginseng plants to participate in the preliminary round at the commune level to enter the Nam Tra My district's beautiful ginseng competition.

Mr. Ho Van Dau, head of the Tak Hrang outpost, said that the outpost has 44 households participating in ginseng cultivation, so selecting beautiful ginseng to participate in the competition is not difficult. Every household eagerly awaits the festival to participate in many meaningful activities organized by the district, so all preparations are very thorough.

Tra Linh commune, the capital of Ngoc Linh ginseng, has made thorough preparations for this year's Ngoc Linh ginseng festival in the district. The People's Committee of Tra Linh commune has held meetings and assigned detailed tasks to its members and departments.

Tra Linh commune participated in many activities during the festival, such as offering sacrifices at the Ngoc Linh ginseng temple in Con Pin village (hamlet 2, Tra Linh commune), carrying the Ngoc Linh ginseng symbol during the festival, and participating in all other activities during the festival days.

Mr. Ho Van Dang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Linh commune, said: "The annual festival is an opportunity for the people of Tra Linh commune to promote Ngoc Linh ginseng to people in other regions of the country and international friends. This is a plant with high economic value, helping the people of the commune escape poverty and now gradually rise to prosperity."

Through participation in the festival's activities, the commune also calls on the community to work together to preserve and develop the rare and endemic genetic resources of Ngoc Linh ginseng.

At the same time, we will promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the Xê Đăng ethnic group, boost economic development, develop community tourism, create local jobs for the people, and generate additional income for them.”

According to Mr. Tran Van Man, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district, after five editions, the annual Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival has become an attractive destination for tourists from near and far.

By participating in the festival, visitors not only have the opportunity to admire the most beautiful and highest quality ginseng plants and roots, but also to enjoy the unique culture of the ethnic minorities in Nam Tra My.

Activities at the festival related to Ngoc Linh ginseng have made a significant contribution to building the brand, promoting trade, introducing and advertising Ngoc Linh ginseng products in domestic and international markets, gradually moving towards export, and increasing economic value and efficiency.

“Ngoc Linh ginseng in particular, and medicinal herbs in general, have helped the people of Nam Tra My escape poverty sustainably and become wealthy in their own homeland. The district will continue to implement policies to preserve and promote the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng, along with the joint efforts of support policies from the central and provincial governments for Nam Tra My,” Mr. Man said.

The 2024 Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival will feature a Ngoc Linh ginseng and mountain medicinal herb market with 60 stalls, attracting businesses, traders, and ginseng growers in the district to participate throughout the festival to serve the on-site ginseng purchasing needs of visitors.

At the same time, cultural activities will also take place at the festival, such as a competition for displaying the ceremonial pole in the traditional buffalo sacrifice ritual of the ethnic minorities in Nam Tra My district.

On the occasion of the festival, the district organized the announcement of the Nam Tra My district emblem and the Decision recognizing the National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Folk knowledge on the exploitation, cultivation and processing of Ngoc Linh ginseng - Nam Tra My district - Quang Nam province".

The festival will also feature a beautiful Ngoc Linh ginseng contest with the participation of individuals, households, groups of households, checkpoints, and businesses growing Ngoc Linh ginseng in the district.

The competition aims to promote and introduce to those who love and are interested in Ngoc Linh ginseng the most beautiful and valuable ginseng works from Nam Tra My district.
