Sancho agrees to join Fenerbahce. |
Jadon Sancho is closer than ever to leaving Manchester United, with Türkiye a possible destination. Despite previous interest from Juventus and Napoli, the England star has reached a personal agreement with Fenerbahce, according to a series of Turkish media reports.
The former Dortmund man is said to be earning around £8.5m a season at his new club. While this is less than what he is currently earning at United, moving to Turkey – where income tax is much lower than in the UK – would allow Sancho to “retain” his net income after tax.
Fenerbahce are now set to begin negotiations with Manchester United. With the Red Devils keen to offload Sancho to restructure their squad under Ruben Amorim, a deal could be completed in the coming weeks. MU initially expected to receive around £25 million - a price equivalent to the buyout clause Chelsea once accepted. However, it is possible that they will make concessions and reduce the price to close the deal as soon as possible.
Sancho was signed by MU for £73 million from Dortmund in the summer of 2021. However, his career at Old Trafford has never been as good as expected. After 83 appearances for the Manchester team, the player born in 2000 has only scored 12 goals and had 6 assists - numbers that do not match his value and potential.
The conflict with coach Erik ten Hag almost put an end to Sancho's future at MU. He was pushed back to Dortmund on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 season, before returning to Old Trafford this summer. However, Ten Hag's continued failure to include Sancho in his plans led MU to continue pushing the player to Chelsea on loan, with a £25 million buyout clause.
