Information from Dong Van commune (Tuyen Quang province) indicates that on the morning of October 8th, a serious landslide occurred right at the entrance gate, completely destroying the gate.
At the scene, a large amount of soil and rocks slid down from the embankment, completely collapsing the Đồng Văn commune's welcome gate and temporarily cutting off traffic.
Fortunately, no one was passing by when the landslide occurred and the archway collapsed, so there were no casualties.

Immediately after the incident occurred, the Dong Van commune authorities quickly mobilized militia forces, commune police, and local residents to urgently clean up the scene, remove rocks, soil, and fallen trees, ensure traffic safety, and minimize the risk of further landslides.
Simultaneously, assess the extent of the damage and develop initial remediation plans.
The Đồng Văn commune entrance gate, inaugurated in November 2024, is 10.5m wide and 6.3m high. It was constructed from 740 stones, nearly 18.5 cubic meters of wood, and over 26,000 yin-yang roof tiles, with a total cost of over 1.5 billion VND from social contributions.
This is an architectural masterpiece and a cultural symbol of the people in the far north of Vietnam. It is also a popular check-in spot for tourists visiting Dong Van commune in particular, and the Dong Van karst plateau in general.
