To ensure the health and safety of nearly 900 boarding students, Nam Ha Primary School ( Ha Tinh City) has consistently prioritized food safety and hygiene in its school cafeteria. Especially recently, with the widespread information about contaminated food and fake milk on social media, the school's management and cafeteria staff have tightened their control and inspection of food throughout the entire process, from supplier to table.

Ms. Pham Thi Que Huong, Deputy Principal of Nam Ha Primary School (Ha Tinh City), said: “Up until now, we and parents have carefully selected food sources from reputable production facilities with full inspection and business licenses. Recently, in light of information about contaminated food and fake milk being rampant, the school has reviewed its food suppliers and publicly disclosed the menu and food procurement process on a group chat so that parents can be fully informed. This is also a way for parents to monitor, cooperate, and share responsibility in the health care of students.”

The teachers' sense of responsibility in ensuring the health and safety of students has created consensus and reassurance among parents when entrusting their children to the school. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, a parent of a student at Nam Ha Primary School, shared: “Along with the transparency of daily food information, the school has also developed a diverse menu according to the seasons, ensuring healthy and delicious meals for the children. The milk used for afternoon meals is selected from reputable brands, ensuring quality, so we feel very secure.”

At Hoa Hong Kindergarten (Nghen town, Can Loc district), ensuring the health and nutrition of nearly 800 students is a crucial task to maintain discipline and improve the quality of childcare and education. The school's management regularly checks the ingredients and quality of food carefully; ensuring hygiene in processing and storage.
The kitchen is designed according to a one-way operational process, divided into separate areas such as: a raw material storage area, a fresh food processing area, a cooking area, and a place for cooked food… All areas are kept clean, neatly arranged, and food samples are properly stored after cooking for inspection and testing when needed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Tham, Principal of Hoa Hong Kindergarten, said: “To contribute to ensuring the quality of school meals for children, the school's management board has implemented the motto: nurturing is more important than educating. Therefore, along with strictly controlling food, ensuring safety and adequate nutrition, we have also strengthened food safety awareness campaigns for parents to form awareness and habits of choosing healthy food, ensuring the health of our students.”

Unsafe and substandard food can have serious health consequences, especially for children, whose immune systems are still developing. Recent incidents of unsafe food on the market serve as a reminder for schools in Ha Tinh to tighten management and supervision of food sources used in their school cafeterias. Ensuring food safety and hygiene has become a concrete, coordinated, and decisive action at educational institutions providing boarding services to students in the area.
According to data from the education sector, the province has more than 300 school canteens serving over 100,000 preschool and primary school students. To date, these school canteens have proven effective in improving school health, contributing to maintaining discipline, and enhancing the quality of education in schools.
Food safety and hygiene is always a pressing issue and a top priority for the education sector. Along with regular reminders and guidance through meetings, the sector has also issued numerous directives on strengthening food safety and hygiene at educational institutions; coordinating with relevant forces to organize inspection teams to promptly detect and correct shortcomings, as well as providing guidance and advice on nutrition.
Recently, in response to reports of unsafe food on the market, the Ha Tinh Department of Education has intensified its efforts to remind and direct schools providing meals to continue tightening food safety and hygiene standards. Simultaneously, it has coordinated with relevant authorities to develop inspection plans for several independent daycare centers, kindergartens, and primary schools offering meals in the area.
