TPO - From May 13, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao sea route will officially begin operation.
A representative from Phu Quoc Express stated that the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime Administration have approved a trial operation of a passenger sea transport route between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao. The vessel to be operated on this route will be the 1,017-seat high-speed ferry named Thang Long.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the ferry will pick up passengers and depart from Hiep Phuoc Port (Can Gio District) at 7:30 AM. Passengers can board a transfer boat at Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) before that time. In Con Dao, the ferry will pick up passengers at 1:00 PM daily at Ben Dam Port.
With a travel time of over 5 hours, the estimated ticket price for the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route will range from 615,000 VND/passenger to 1,100,000 VND/passenger, depending on the ticket type and peak season. In addition, passengers can purchase package tickets that include transfer tickets, shuttle bus tickets to the center of Con Dao, as well as transportation, meals, and accommodation in Con Dao. Phu Quoc Express ticket offices have already started selling tickets for this route.
It is known that the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao sea route has been prepared for quite some time by Phu Quoc Express, relevant departments in Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The Thang Long high-speed ferry was newly built by Phu Quoc Express specifically for this route, and Hiep Phuoc port has been selected as the main port for this sea route in Ho Chi Minh City.

However, because Hiep Phuoc port was previously planned to primarily serve cargo transportation, the relevant units had to propose to the transport sector to add passenger transportation functions.
