Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, residing in Cai Rang ward, Can Tho city, said: “There’s nothing you can find at supermarkets now. From modern to traditional products. Especially OCOP products and local specialties. Besides attractive designs and reasonable prices, goods at supermarkets have clear origins. Therefore, for many years, I have chosen supermarkets as my Tet shopping destination, both for peace of mind regarding quality and convenience.”
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), along with the entire MM Mega Market Vietnam system, MM Mega Market Hung Loi increased its supply of OCOP products and local specialties. The number of OCOP products distributed at MM Mega Market has reached 200, double the number compared to last year's Tet season. These products are given priority display in prominent locations with reasonable prices.
Responding to the consumer trend prioritizing traditional values, MM Mega Market focuses on introducing many high-quality Vietnamese products characteristic of the Tet holiday season, such as sweet and sour pickled shallots, pickled vegetables, pickled pig ears, pickled eggplant, banh chung (traditional rice cake), etc., along with Tet confectionery and jam products including milk cakes, Golden Dragon mung bean cakes, golden sand mooncakes, peanut candy, etc. These products fully meet standards for quality, food safety, and origin, attracting the attention of a large number of customers.
In particular, regional specialty fruits such as coconuts, custard apples, papayas, red pineapples from Tien Giang, green pomelos from Ben Tre; Black Beauty watermelons from Long An; Huynh Long melons from Dong Nai ; purple and golden star apples from Vinh Long; Buddha's hand citrons from Son La; Dien pomelos from Phu Tho, red pomelos from Tan Lac… are carefully selected for quality and actively distributed by MM Mega Market. A difference this Tet season is that, in addition to items sold by the kilogram, fruit products such as green pomelos, honey melons, Cat Chu mangoes, Cat Hoa Loc mangoes, green pomelos, star apples… are being designed and packaged in beautiful, luxurious Tet gift boxes, priced from 90,000 to 269,000 VND per box. According to the company, these products are being chosen by many customers, especially corporate clients, as gifts for partners, clients, and employees during Tet.
During the period leading up to the Lunar New Year, MM Mega Market also launched a pork product promotion program, running from February 7th to 16th (29th of the Lunar month), to ensure a stable supply and offer reasonable prices to consumers. Accordingly, MM Mega Market is offering a range of imported fresh and frozen pork products with discounts of 15-30%, with a total expected volume of up to 70 tons. Specifically, fresh pork shoulder is discounted by 20%, priced from 109,000-119,000 VND/kg; fresh minced pork is discounted by 20%, priced at 109,000 VND/kg; imported frozen pork ribs are discounted by 25%, priced at 99,000 VND/kg...
At Co.opmart supermarkets, inventory for the Tet holiday season has increased by 35-40%, mainly in strategic categories, especially essential food items. Notably, over 90% of the goods sold at the system for Tet are domestically produced products, focusing on high-quality Vietnamese goods, OCOP products, VietGAP products, and safe agricultural products. At Co.opmart, specialty items for Tet such as dried seafood, pickled onions, Hue pickled cucumbers, shrimp paste, spring rolls, sausages, etc., have also been increased to serve consumers.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Director of Communications at Central Retail Vietnam, Vietnamese goods currently account for over 90% of products in the company's supermarket chains such as GO! and Tops Market. The company is strengthening connections with manufacturers, cooperatives, and small and medium-sized enterprises to bring Vietnamese goods into its system, while also organizing awareness campaigns and promotions to stimulate consumer demand. During the Tet holiday season, Central Retail Vietnam's supermarket system is increasing the availability of local products such as Vinh Long's mandarin oranges and Nam Roi pomelos, Soc Trang's mooncakes, and many other famous specialties like Binh Phuoc cashews, Ben Tre coconut candy, Soc Trang's ST25 rice, Thai Nguyen tea, etc., most of which are OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.
Vietnamese goods in general, and local specialties and OCOP products in particular, continue to demonstrate their appeal. Thanks to their consistent quality, reasonable prices, and clear origins—from fresh food and fast-moving consumer goods to processed products—Vietnamese goods remain popular and are increasingly preferred by consumers.
