
Attending the plum festival in Phieng Khoai commune, Son La province were leaders from several provincial departments and agencies, local people and tourists, and representatives from Phiengsa village, Xiengkho district, Huaphanh province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Currently, Phiêng Khoài commune has over 2,700 hectares of late-season plums, of which about 2,500 hectares are ready for harvest; the estimated yield is 25,000-27,000 tons per season.

Besides its economic value, the late-season plum tree in Phiêng Khoài also contributes to job creation, promotes experiential tourism, and showcases the image of the border region of Phiêng Khoài to friends and tourists inside and outside Sơn La province.
The first Plum Festival of Phiêng Khoài Commune in 2026 took place over three days, featuring many rich and attractive activities such as: Plum picking competition; display and introduction of agricultural products; traditional sports activities; cultural exchange and traditional cultural experiences.

The plum festival also includes activities to support people's digital transformation, such as updating subscriber information, setting up level 2 electronic identity accounts, a mobile library, and livestreaming to support plum sales on digital platforms.

In addition, there were activities showcasing the rich cultural identity, along with sports such as tug-of-war and stick pushing, which took place enthusiastically, creating a joyful and united atmosphere during the festival.

Through this festival, Phiêng Khoài commune hopes to continue introducing and promoting the Phiêng Khoài plum brand and other characteristic agricultural products of the locality.

This is also an opportunity to strengthen connections with businesses, cooperatives, distributors, and tourists to promote agricultural product consumption, expand markets, increase product value, and boost people's income.

The plum festival is also an opportunity for Phiêng Khoài commune to promote its potential and advantages in culture, tourism, and people; contributing to promoting agricultural economic development associated with experiential tourism, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
